| Kord's Boon04-12-07, 12:47 AM | This is the first draft of my homebrew world; the bar in the lower right corner shows the distance a human on foot at a normal pace can cover in four days. Just want to make sure that the geography is feasible with that scale, and anything else that might be helpful http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h291/chopstewie/world.jpg This is the detail of the peninsula my players will be starting on, bar in lower right is one days travel for 30ft movment(top) and 20ft (bottom) http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h291/chopstewie/pen.jpg |

| cruxvader04-12-07, 12:50 AM | to be honest it reminds me of eragon, and eragons landscape is nooblish but i guess i shouldn't judge, i usually just stick with an island and everythings all chappy |
| Kord's Boon04-12-07, 01:00 AM | pooptastic make sure you apply longer travel rates over mountains forests and the like... Yes, travel will be longer of mountains, dense forest ect. What specifically is “pooptastic” and what would you suggest to correct it? |

(though it would be easier for others to judge and evaluate it if you either darkened your shorelines or added some colour) In my rather unexperienced opinion, I'm thinking you need to increase the size of the world a little bit. A person can travel up to 1 league (~3 miles) an hour. I'm assuming that that your scale is a full eight hours of travel, as is normal for an average traveling company. Therefore the total distance represented by your bar is about 100 miles. That would mean that your peninsula in your fist map is about the same size as Florida. Now, you have a mountain range that rolls down into plains on said peninsula. I do not believe that is geographically possible. Now, don't get me wrong, it is a good map. However, you might want to buff the size of it all to make it more realistic. By how much, it's up to you exactly, but try to take real world examples for the basis of geography:D |

| LadyAlaria04-12-07, 10:45 AM | I wouldn't worry in the least about the size. But if verisimilitude is your goal, just compare your map with a map of a real-world region that you want to mimic. You can have a great campaign using a map on the scale of Asia or England - it's just a matter of fulfilling your personal vision. |
