A real time killer or maybe something to listen to while stocking the shelves overnight: Table top game recordings in mp3 format. Games will be listed by dates played.

Now, let me introduce the players and characters quickly (not all players make it to every game):

Crazy Dan (Dan)- Sylviste, Elven F/MU (wants revenge on his human oppressors). Dan loves the elven combos.

Broom (Sean)- Leto, Human, F (suffers from amnesia). Sean is the most intense gamer, often getting caught up and really getting animated at the table.

Stretchfoot (Scott)- Slag, Dwarf, Pr of Goibhnu (survived being inside a burning building, horribly scarred, wants to learn more about why he was chosen to live, still learning his priestly powers). Scott recently had his first child and he is a long time gamer.

Mapman (Rick)-Will be rejoining the game when he gets a new car(which he does and starts again in the 2-17 game). Rick does most of the cartography for the website and game.

Cop-czar (Jim)-Jim has a screwy schedule and we hope he comes back to the table soon, he is the best story writer of all of us.

Thespian (Paul)- Will rejoin the game after a lengthy absence as Noctra , a paladin of Pholtus. Paul is a drama teacher and he really hams it up.

Old School (John)-His wife is expecting twins so he shows up when he let's her! But he's a good player.

Comments and opinions welcome.

Please note:We are adult gamers and therefore the occasional curse word is used. For this reason the audio content should not be played in front of children, we don't need a two year old saying s**t. :P

This game we see the return of Old School (John M.). Most recently he played an oriental warrior who traveled with Nogel and company until he departed to return to his lord. Now he takes on the role of Erik, Priest of Thor. The Expatriot gang have sent Erik to help Nogel in his quest to rid the land of the Sword Rulers.

Also appearing are Scott S. as Slag, Rick W. as Dov, and Dan B. as Sylviste. Sean S. (Leto) had to deal with a busted water heater so he was unable to attend.

Also playing are Sean as Leto, Rick as Dov, John M. as Erik, and Scott as Slag. We knew Dan would not be here this week so the DM played Sylviste and his usual NPC Nogel the Warlord.

Rick, Sean, Scott, and Paul are here this week.

John M. and his lovely wife Christy had twins last Friday so Erik won't be around too much longer (which we expected) and Dan was a no-show so Sylviste will be in the background.

This week the heroes continue east along the river in hopes of catching the boy king before he escapes forever.

This week's attendees were Scott (Slag), Rick (Dov), and Sean (Leto). Dan was a no call-no show and Paul had told us he would be out of town. This means the DM will play the parts of Sylviste and Noctra, respectively.

This week we had everyone who is available for at least half the game. I decided it would be a good game to invoke the "You say it, you do it" rule, which really cuts down on the out of character table talk.

Players:
Old School (Erik, Priest of the Nors), he had to leave at halftime
Broom (Leto Shipman)
Stretch (Slag)
Crazy Dan (Sylviste)
Thespian (Noctra)

The game this week takes an ominous turn as the group finds a mysterious path that leads to some ancient ruins.

Players:Crazy Dan, Broom, Map-man, Stretch, and Thespian

I must apologize in advance, there seems to be some static in part two, sometimes a nearby cell phone will cause interference. Anyway, sorry again, luckily it is only in there a short time. It might hurt your ears though!

Old School couldn't make it so the DM played
Erik, priest of the Nors.

Very cool, I hope you enjoy it and I hope it helps pass the time whenever you listen. I know it helps with the game because my players and I can go back and review what has transpired, kind of like a coach watching game films.

Feel free to comment, suggest, or complain about whatever you want, any feedback is vital to helping me become a better DM.

I quite like the concept of it, actually - I keep a fairly detailed campaign journal, but there's still times when I may get things wrong or my players think I have, at any rate. Recording sessions would certainly put an end to that - there's no arguing with your own voice on tape, after all

I may have to look into getting a cheap dictaphone.

This game sees the veteran roleplayer Czar Jim in attendance who happened to have the night off work and he thought he would see what he was missing. He has listened to some of the recent games but until tonight he was not fully understanding just what the group was doing.

A new guy, Erik D., sits in and creates his new character while getting some questions answered about the campaign, the World of Skell, and the gaming style of the Thursday Knights. It came as quite a delight when Erik looked around the basement and proclaimed, "I think I've died and gone to heaven!", which this old DM took as a compliment but it was still quite funny. We knew then we had met another die hard gaming dork and we welcomed him to the club! :D

A quick question spawned by another thread - have you considered video taping any of your sessions? It'd be interesting to see what kind of setup you're playing with.

Also - I've been listening through the audios again, and I noticed you have music playing in the background. Do you ever find that this detracts from the sessions? And what music do you use? Some of it is pretty cool, and I didn't recognise it ;)

A quick question spawned by another thread - have you considered video taping any of your sessions? It'd be interesting to see what kind of setup you're playing with.

Once I get moved into the new house and have the basement set up I will begin to investigate web cams and how to do real video recordings. I have some short mpgs available for d/l in some upcoming installments of the game sessions so they will show a small amount of how I have things set up.

I normally do enjoy some music in the background. I have large collection of CD's that ranges from classical to modern, hair metal bands to pop dance stuff, it's really whatever I see on the shelf and pop it into the 5 disc changer for the night. I can say I really prefer older Pink Floyd and some movie soundtracks to game to, like Conan.

I have a lot of stuff to listen to but since the baby came I haven't bought anything new. You know how that goes. :)

Multiple Endings

This bonus extravaganza was really a lot of fun from the DM's perspective. It features super intense role playing, inter party conflict, long sought after answers about the boy king, and the addition and subtraction of some major characters.

Talk about a full session! It is comprised of five parts totaling over eight hours of heavy RP and combat.

This means there is a lot going on and sometimes it may be difficult to make out all that is being said at any given time. Many times there were simultaneous character discussions taking place at opposite ends of the table (which the stereo recording makes very distinct, and I will make available the stereo recordings if anyone pms me but it will total a lot of mbs) and as DM I just walked back and forth and listened where I could, interjecting the NPC's as needed.

I will say this, the outcome of this story was totally in the players hands. I just sat back and let them have at it.

In my opinion this might have been the single greatest roleplaying session I have ever been a part of and I hope the audio is able to translate how enjoyable this session really was. If the audio is too chaotic, I apologize in advance but the momentum of the session could not be contained.

So find a place to listen, get a cold beverage handy and enjoy. We, the Thursday Knights, certainly did!

Giant Problems

The heroes are glad to be leaving the ruins but new problems await them as they go east. This game features the death of a regular character!

Unfortunately we had to game away from the usual place so the recording was made with an old tape deck and no "direct to digital" recording was made at all. So the quality of the audio is not on par with what I usually deliver but you can still hear what is going on. I made the files a bit larger to hopefully cut down on the loss of quality and what you hear is about as good as it's going to be for this weeks episode.
My wife and I are in the process of moving so the potential buyers and the home inspection team were there, that is why we had to game somewhere else. Sometimes life intrudes but the show must go on!

Pixies and Titans
Back in the basement are we, and we are glad. The guys are helping me pack and move the big items like couches and recliners, and Scott/Slag has offered his basement as the new temporary home for the game (with his lovely wife Sarah's permission, of course). So I'm not sure we will be able to keep on schedule with the Thursday games although at the most I anticipate maybe missing one week, heck, we have to be out of the house by the end of the month, contract signing not withstanding.

Players present: Scott (Slag), Sean (Leto), Paul (Noctra), and Rick (Pip)

Anyway, this week's audio:

An old adventurer returns to play as Czar Jim resumes his role as Jarrick Darkbeard, a Golgothan dwarf from the Sascas Hills.

Also playing tonight were Rick as Pip, Sean as Leto, Erik as Cirelli, Paul as Noctra, and Scott as Slag.

This game is the first of many to be held at Scott's basement while we await the building and completion of my new home. My wife Lisa provided some food and the first part of the game was delayed but once the boys got into character my job as DM for the night became more of a spectator than a referee, which is exactly what we strive for in our heavy RP style.

I certainly will The.End, thanks for the kind words! Come over to the World of Skell forums and let the guys know how you feel. You are also encouraged to let them have it when they screw up or when the DM screws up too!

Both Sides Are Wounded

Terrible wounds cause both the giants and the heroes to take a long hard look at their current plans.

Back to Britanicus' Cave!

In an abbreviated game session, the group moves back into the caves for more fighting. Wounds are exchanged, more cave is explored, the group is growing dispondent over the battles which appear to be leading them nowhere. Battles which risk their life and limb.

The Leading Eye realizes he now has the gift of the gods and can wield some of the power of the Nors. He summizes he received the power with the death of Cirelli at the hands of the Sword Rulers.
