08-01-07, 12:35 PM I've started a worldbuilding forum for sci-fi and fantasy authors and roleplaying gamers. We're dedicated to making our imaginary worlds as engaging as possible, so that the stories that take place within them will be entertaining and thought-provoking.

In our general discussion area, we cover topics that are common to fantasy and sci-fi settings--long-lived races, unusual geography, language barriers and so forth. In our private, dedicated forums, member writers can post their individual worlds and get feedback. We have a rotating world-of-the-week where we give feedback on one world at a time to help each other improve.

Thanks! I don't feel belittled at all. The forums do seem different enough despite their overlap, so I may join the other and invite a sharing of minds.

Anyone else want to share your favorite worldbuilding sites? I wouldn't mind at all.

08-04-07, 01:58 PM I'm glad to hear about these other forums. In our forums we discuss methods of worldbuilding: top-down, bottom-up, mathematical modeling, Q & A, etc. Which do you prefer? Do you use a set of questions, like Patricia Wrede's questions at SFWA?

09-02-07, 10:31 PM Update: World of the Week is moving ahead; I've had a turn with my world Abraxas this week, but I'll be waiting a while before moving the threads back to the password-protected forums in case anyone wants to check my world out.
