| Arco Versipellis12-01-07, 11:39 PM | I've made no oriental area of my world, but I have a homebrew race of shape changers known as the betohoh, based on Native American cultures. My playrs and I both lovethe class, and I think it fits them. Are there any suggestions about changes that make it more closely refect these societies rather than oriental settings? |

Despite the fact that they are arcane casters, they make for a better shaman than any of the classes current in existence as they combine the unusual behavior (the taboos) with mastery of the elements and the forces of nature. |

I can deal with that, but if there were other elements more closely related to Native American culture (a substitue for metal for example). Secondly, the taboos. For example, can't touch dead flesh, can't drink alcohol; they don't seem to fit the culture as well. Considering that most of what I have read seems to indicate that a lot of" medicine men" (for lack of a better word, though apparently it is not necessarly an accurate one) used mind altering substances to induce visions. That said, iIreally only having a limited understading aboutsuch things, so I was asking in hopes that someone else would know more or at leasthave more insight. I really like accuracy, and the elemental division kinda botherd when when I realized it was timed to Oriental Astrology. |
