| Bobfred2111-12-07, 02:14 PM | Well, lately I've become obsessed with the X-Men and I've been considering designing a world where mutation occurs in much the same way, only in a more traditional D&D setting. The PCs arn't going to get their hands on any powers as powerful as the Phoenix Force or the near indestructibility of some mutants, but I think a fantasy setting has plenty of room for unique powers, it would be cool to have PCs who are truly unique from everyone else in the world via their mutant powers. It would also open up some new plot lines for villains, while leaving normal D&D plot lines open too. Not to mention I could image some cool plotlines discovering just why mutation is suddenly taking place. In a fantasy setting it could very easily be a magically aided event. Thoughts? Suggestions on how to limit/balance the power choice? Ideas for what could be causing mutation? Please dont post if you're just going to say it's a horrible idea. I know it's not for everyone, but me and my group like both so this is for those who are like minded, or at the very least constructive toward the topic. |

Psychic warriors can be used for those with more subtle powers & more durability-such as wolverine. wilder would be great for someone like scott, rogue, gambit, or even iceman, and soulknife is blatantly similar to psylocke. seriously, look into psionics. if you even start up a topic on the psionics board and/or look around the Char Op board, I know a lot of the people there have statted out some of the Xmen in ways that represent them with remarkable accuracy. |

I imagine it would make for an interesting encounter for PCs. I gave them names like Ecks, Bamf, Oro, and Snikt. A group decides to help a village with their problem of goblins raiding the graineries, and encounters a powerful psionic goblin with a powerful tribe of gobbos with unusual abilities.:D |

It's a really great story and it depicts a whole bunch of Marvel heroes, including some of the X-Men and Magneto's Brotherhood, as they might have been in Europe in the year 1602 a.d. Nick Fury is chief spy to England, Captain America is a huge blond Native American (sort of), Magneto is the Grand Inquisitor, and so on. It's a very fun read, and it might give you some cool ideas. The time period is a little late for D&D, but that shouldn't be much of a problem. |
