For all the technical stuff on Xearic, my campaign setting, check out the d20 fantasy thread. This is just my endless ideas and fluffing. I love my campaign setting, and would like it to be as exiting and action moviesh as Ebberon and as epic fantasy and detailed as Fearun, but I also want it to be original. What I would love was for anybody who veiws this to come up with their own city or town or village or whatever in a certain area of Xearic. Well, heres some information about Xearic.

CORILE
The world of Corile {Sor-eel} was created long ago between the four ancient and long dead gods, Earth, Fire, Water and Air. In this massive war of elements, all matter was created, along with the races, monsters, deites and lands of Corile. Many billions of years later is the present.

XEARIC
The largest and most widely populated continet in the world of Corile, Xearic {Ser-ik} is at the same time ancient, exotic and awing. The vast Sinyou desert in the southwest in home to a cruel empire of humans, who want to conquer the entire desert of Sinyou. The seeming endless plains of the North are home to many, many human tribes, and at the tip of the inner sea is the country of Triscan, the grandest farming human community in all of Xearic. The capitol and trading center of Triscan, Buffalo, was founded by a small family of hunters who lived soley off the Buffalo in the region. The city is now a rich, exotic trading center. Ironfist, the northern most city of Triscan, is home to one of the grandest military academies, and is a tight packed highly Urbanized city. Many other towns, many seaside, are found within the vast plains of Triscan. The rest of the north is either plains or deep coniferous forest. The tallest mountain chain in the world, seperating the north from the south, is the Hellspire Mountains. These giant mountains reach through the clouds. This is one of the most common places to find dwarves. In the far south-east is the seemingly endless jungles of Jareji, home to the jungle elves and tribes of primitive humans. Goblins and gnolls also inhabit the jungles. Far to the north-west is one of the last strongholds of the wood elves {needs name}. In the center of this extremely large continet is the Inner Sea, the only salt water most of Xearians know of. The sea stops at the southern end of Triscan {While the northern end borders the Great Mountains of the north, and the frontier of the world} and at the northern most tip of the Sinyou desert. It stretches far east. The Burks, a race of aquatic fishlike people inhabit the sea. The Halflings inhabit the freshwater marshes of the north-east, living in their small villages-lots of rafts and board walks tied together by ropes, and anchored by heavy metal balls, these villages suit the halflings well. The orcs live in tribal communities dotting the north, and ever since the last great human-and-orc war, they have no capitol city to call their own and make a living by raiding and plundering human villages. The two main elven communities in Xearic are the jungle elves of the southeast and the wood elves of the north west. Both build their homes out of the trees, connecting trees branches and trunks with woodland magic. Most of them become hunters, druids or rangers. The Burks are small fishlike people that build their homes out of tropical coral reefs. They have a special affinity for the water around them. The dwarves live in the valleys between mountains, carving their cities out of solid stone and keeping secure warrior communties. The drow inhabit the Underdark, living in their underground, beautiful caverns, but doing unspeakable evils. The Dragonborn are a new race, viking like, coming from across the sea. They have settled in small tribal communities along the western coast.

I mainly need help with detailing cities and making deites. I want a deity for each race, exept for the humans. The deites should also represent something-the dwarven god the god of strength and battle, the elven god the god of nature, and so on. :)

First, I recommend you break that description up a bit...you've currently got the dreaded Wall-o-Text, and it makes it a bit hard to read. Maybe a new paragraph for each major region.

I like the overall sound of Xearic...it's varied without having 27 separate elven subraces. This outline is obviously rather broad, but it feels like a good, solid base. My only real objection is that it sounds a but too generic...your classic Pseudo-European Fantasy mash...but if that's what you want, then

A suggestion on the deities. I personally hate racial pantheons. Maybe just one pantheon, and each race interprets them a bit differently. For instance, instead of having the god of the Orcs be the god of War, have the Orcs revere the god of War more than the other deities...they're savage and warlike! The Dwarves view the god of War totally differently, and take offense at the Orcs' "heresy". The god of War doesn't step in and stop them because - hey, he's the god of War! War is good!

I'd be happy ot help out with the deities and perhaps some towns; what specifically do you need? Also. what naming conventions are you using? For instance, are the humans of Sinyou vaguely Arabic, or Egyptian, or something else entirely? Are the dwarves Norse, or Generic Dwarvan? Etc.

Edit: Here's (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=992768) a link to the "crunch" thread (just to make it easy). 'Fraid I can't help you there...it looks like you're going all 4e on us, and I am a dedicated 3.5-er. Good luck, though.

Thx for the help. I like the idea about the pantheons. Id like a very simple set of deities, only 4 or 5. I also dont want them to be tangibile and walking around on the world {one thing I hate about FR, although I do love it. I want them to be distint and mythical, like real life religions. One country may beleive one thing, another might think some thing entirely different.

Yes, I like to keep only two or three elf races, even though I do love my fleet-footed friends. Im not sure how ill fit gnomes in-I thought about them being fey, but it Didnt click.

The Desert Human culture is Arabic flavored, but there are a race of dog-like people that build pyramids in the desert, and that's obviously Eqyptian based.

I have three knew class ideas, though id like more. Two have race requirments, but have no other requirments so are not PrCs.

Nature Adept-Emphasizes elven affinity with nature. They control elven magic-a natural form of magic that lets the elf that takes the class control certain aspects of nature.

Mariner-A halfling mariner is an expert of the boat, and has many advantages when fighting on her chosen ground. This is interesting because PC mariners can build and captain their own ships.

Pirate-There are many sea-going scoundrels aboard ships on the tropical waters of the Inner Sea. And these are the pirates, hated by the guards of many porttowns and despised by fair fishermen.

For towns, I think I have down human, but I really need dwarf and elf towns and stuff.

Arnna
This jungle elf village dwells near a great blackened stone from some long lost civilization. The village is named for the storms that frequently come by and the common lightning strikes that hit the stone.

Religion
The elves of Arnna have a great respect for weather and worship a particular aspect of the nature god depicting storms and lightning. The small cult of druids lead the village in their spiritual ways and also political ways. The village is a type of theocracy being run by these druids. When storms come to the stone they go forth into the harsh weather and sacrifice a small, white bird in order to appease the thunder and the god herself. The cult, calling themselves Lyaie’s Guardians, kill all foreigners who dare touch the stone but otherwise are relatively peaceful.

The Standing Stone, Lyaie, Thunder-Home
The stone has come to be called Lyaie, meaning Thunder-Home. Some amongst the elves rumor that touching the stone when lightning strikes can magically teleport the person to a dank place where storms are born. Recently, the stone has been shaking and turning darker than ever. The elves fear it will bring about great calamity.

Trade
The elves of Arnna have a strong trade with nearby human tribes and other jungle elves. They harvest a type of plant called Kymir. Kymir stems have fibers within that make clothing that is both strong and soft. It also absorbs dye easily and can hold a myriad of colors.

Plot Hooks
The stone when powered with lightning teleports any touching it to a dungeon dedicated to a now forgotten storm goddess that may or may not have existed. It is filled with water and wind elementals that have become corrupted into demon-like forms. The corruption stems from an evil undead/mage/someone who has taken residence in the place.

So is this the sort of stuff you are looking for in terms of towns/villages? I just kind of came up with that on the spot..

I'll take a stab at the deities...

Syldana, Goddess of Nature
Syldana is the goddess of nature, plants, animals, weather, and the seas. She is seen as the benificent Green Mother, who nurtures all her children; and as the merciless Destroyer, sender of hurricanes, floods, droughts and blizzards. She is most revered by the elves, but all races who have some contact with nature know of Syldana's power. She draws power from Air and Water, with a touch of Earth.

Jord, God of Magic and Creation
Jord is the Smith, the Forger and Shaper, who shapes both souls and continents. He is revered by those who craft things with theit hands, especially the dwarves. He is also the god of magic - for what is magic but an act of creation? He is acknowledged by all arcanists, but is particularly respected by mage-smiths and item crafters. Jord's power comes from Earth and Fire.

Cadentia, Goddess of Chance and the Night
Cadentia, Luck's Daughter, is the Laughing Jester, the patron of chance, luck, and sheer recklessness. She is revered by rogues, vagabonds, and swashbucklers, as well as gamblers of all stripes. She enjoins her followers to live life to the fullest, and teaches that great rewards demand great risks. She is also the goddess of darkness and the night, queen of secrecy and mother of dark things. Her power, as befits her contradictory nature, comes from Fire and Water.

Galda, Goddess of the Sun
Bright Galda, the Shining One, is the goddess of light, the sun, and justice. She embodies the blazing sun, which drives back the darkness, as well as the light of Truth from which none can hide. She is harsh but fair, and is revered by magistrates and avengers alike. She is also the goddess of light, fire, and the hunt for dark things - which places her at odds with Cadentia. Her power comes from Air and Fire.

Rax, God of War
Rax the Warlord, the Steel Tempest, Master of the Battlefield, is the god of war. His altar is the battleground, and his high priest is the victor; every foeman's death is a prayer to Rax. Rax promotes war and conflict, and teaches that this keeps his people hard and strong. Rax is revered by the orcs more than any other deity. Rax is also the god of chaos, and encourages innovation and experimentation - most of the world's war machines are the result of his direct inspiration. He draws power from Earth and Fire.

I deliberately left the deities alignment-less; since there are only six, it makes little sense to have ALL CE people revere, say, Rax, while ALL NG people revere Syldana.

I also encourage the use of demigods/patron saints. For instance, Gruumsh could be a mighty Orcish hero who Rax "adopted" as a champion, and who acts as the patron saint of the Orcish people. This expands on the available flavors of patron without required a FR-sized stable of deities.

If you care, I can come up with race-appropriate names for each deity...for example, the elves might call Rax "Rallithor," while the Orcs know him as "Ragash."
