| Aleolus11-30-07, 05:02 PM | OK, this campaign idea is based somewhat off the storyline presented in the webcomic called YOSH (www.yoshsaga.com). I'm needing some help completing it, though. Any ideas? Here's what I've got so far. Turn of the century, modern day, no magic. Our characters start off in a normal life, based on character class Fighter/Ranger = military Monk = Martial Artist Cleric = Priest/Pastor/clergy Paladin = Emergency response (Police, firefighter, etc) Barbarian = Hired thug Rouge = numerous, from locksmith to thief Bard = performers Wizards/Sorcerers = Scientists Determine other professions based off the type of class it is Swap out Knowledge (Arcana) for Knowledge (Mythology), otherwise unchanged. Knowledge (Nobility and Royalty) for Knowledge (Government) Add Knowledge (Science) Use Magic Device changed to Use Technology Towards the start of the campaign, the group is going about doing whatever it is they do, (roleplay out as normal), then a relatively short way in, something strange happens (magic returns, certain characters become other races, gaining their ability modifiers. Magic has returned, but no one knows what the hell is going on. Some people are creating giant fireballs, others have gained animal-like appendages, and so forth. The group mucks around for a short while, encountering various creatures that shouldn’t exists (undead, mythological creatures, oozes) roll randomly to determine 01 Orcs (party of 3) 02 Zombie (4 Commoner) 03 Skeleton (5 Warrior) 04 Boggle 05 Ash Rat 06 Bugbear 07 Carrion Crawler 08 Dretch 09 Dire Bat 00 Dire Ape That evening, each PC finds a letter addressed to them by name, with a strange symbol in the return address area. A Knowledge (Government) check (DC 30) reveals it’s the symbol of a secret government organization devoted to investigation of the supernatural and bizarre. “(Character’s name) You’re presence is requested at Moe’s Place at precisely 1600 hours, tomorrow evening. Show the bartender this letter, and he will show you into the room we will be meeting in. Punctuality is expected.” No signature, however the same seal is on the bottom, where a signature would go. The group will undoubtedly go. Moe’s Place is in a dark part of town, but is a fairly clean establishment. Moe is a middle-aged bartender, who, upon being shown the letter and the seal on it, he comes out from behind the bar and shows them to a door in the back marked Employee’s Only, and ushers them through. He then leads them to an unmarked door, and shows them in, then walking back out to the floor. Inside the room is a rectangular table, with several place-settings on it. Some are occupied, others empty. At exactly 4:00, a man wearing a Secret Service-like outfit enters the room and stands at the head of the table. He greets the people, using very short, crisp sentences, with very correct grammar and English. He explains that he is from the Bureau for Investigation of Paranormal and Supernatural Phenomenon, or BIPSP. He explains that, all over the world, something odd has been happening. People have been found who have been physically transformed in varying ways, some subtle, some dramatic. Also, strange monsters have been appearing and incurring massive amounts of property damage, as well as causing the people to go into a panic. He then explains what he wants is for the PCs to go undercover, and investigate the matter to determine what triggered this sudden uprising. Once they discover that, they are to contact him to receive further orders. He also provides them with Identification Badges that will allow them to receive aid from any government or semi-government official who they show it to. |
