Greetings. My question is simple: A wizard entering a prestige class continues to gain spellcasting ability, but loses benefits such as item creation and metamagic feats. Does this restriction apply to familiars as well? In other words, would a familiar stop increasing in hp, natural armor, etc. while the master gains level in a PrC? Thank you in advance.

The familiar would not continue to gain the benefits shown on the familiar chart, so for the most part you're correct.

A familiar's HPs are based on those of the master, however, regardless of where those HPs came from, so the familiar's HP's would continue to increase.

Your familiar will gain no additonal special abilities from the familiar table.

That does NOT mean your familiar doesn't continue to improve as you do. Remember that its HP are based on your character and it uses many of your abilites such as save and BAB. The familiar from a "gish" build may not have a lot of abilites but it certainly could be a minor combat threat.
