I have a drow ninja8(OA)/rogue10 NPC. I want to add one more level, but adding rogue nor ninja will give anything special. The best I have come up with so far is a level of swordsage. Does anyone else have any recommendations. I would prefer something along the lines of a stealth type character, Prc's are welcome, including 3rd edition.

beguiler could be alright if you take it early. not really that useful later, but it's still got that sneaky feel and gives you a few more options (anyway, you're prob. right in thinking swordsage. it's a very nice dip)

Levels in Swordsage are going to benefit the character more than pretty much any other option.

Taking a level in swordsage and taking maneuvers in one discipline will allow you to take up to a fifth level maneuver at first level.

yes, but how useful will they really be at 17th level? taking it at 9th for 3rd level maneuvers instead is a pretty good idea

str 10-not really needed
dex 18-needed for attacks and AC
con 14-hopefully does not get hit to much, and applies to ninja run speed
int 14-needed for skills and init(ninja class feature)
wis-18-applies to swordsage armor if that class is taken
cha-10-dump stat

These are before any magic items are applied.

I think I will go with the swordsage, and figure out exactly how many levels of each class later, thanks.

grab a level of fighter or barbarian.

the extra hp, bab, and fort save will help you out, and you can get either

rage and fast movement, or a feat of your choice. Either one will greatly help out your combat potential.

barbarian if you're small is pretty decent (speed bonus (big), str bonus when raging (useful-ish)); and the con boost is really nice if you expect you'll go into close combat often (is it a TWF ninja/rogue, or a ranged one, or what?)

This is going to be an NPC, so I don't think he'll want to put that SS level at level 9 when it would be better at level 19

BTW, You should probably make him level 20 and take 2 Swordsage levels so you can obtain that AC bonus.

You might want to trade one of those ninja levels for a second level of swordsage, and get assassin's stance for an extra 2d6 sneak attack.

The ninja has full BAB, and I was trying to get +16 BAB, but it won't work without me taking 10 levels of ninja, and I don't need that many so I will have to look at some of the recommendations on this page to see what I can come up with.

The Barbarian thing might work since my drow is from the jungles of Xendrik, and it would also give me a speed boost. I will have to look into that.

oops, my bad, thought it was a pc

he can easily do that with 1 level of swordsage (just take another shadow hand type as one of the 6 maneuvers)
