| periscope09-27-07, 12:28 AM | I know this has probably been done to death, undeath, and the 9 hells already but I wanna take a shot at it. Who have you or would want to base a character on, in terms of PERSONALITY, OUTLOOK, and DEEDS (so no "I wanna be this guy 'cause he can fart a fireball" type stuff). This can be from fiction or from RL and you can list more than one person if you would so chose but try and keep it to a low number per post. Please indicate if they are from RL and if possible, provide a link about them. Also list how you would go about converting them into a DnD character, or at the very least what class they would be to you. I personally would like to make some characters based on these 2 (RL): Francisco "Pancho" Villa http://www.badassoftheweek.com/villa.html Ahmad Shah Massoud http://www.badassoftheweek.com/massoud.html The links are to a site that has some colorful language so here's a warning. If anyone thinks this would do better in another thread, please tell me. Both fought against oppression of both them and their people, Villa vs the rich upper crust who oppressed his people, forcing them to work long hours in the hot sun on plantations for pennies and a government which kept shifting into despots hands. Massoud waged guerrilla warfare vs Russia during some of its most powerful times, leading 5000 men who were underfunded, out manned, out gunned against thousands of troops, tanks, and weaponry and still came out on top. and then he fought Al-Qaida for the longest time. Osama is quoted as saying "As long as this man is alive, no victory is possible." To me, both of the people above represent CG. I would consider both of them rangers or rogues with the leadership feat, based on their abilities to garner followers to something which seems like suicide. |

| navar10009-27-07, 02:15 AM | I never used real people or fictional characters for my character's personality. That was always my own. However, I have used them for character names. "Navar" was a character of mine, named Adric Navar. "Adric" for the Doctor Who companion who was killed. (It shocked me.) "Navar" named after Rutger Hauer's character Navarre in Ladyhawke. (I love that movie.) My current character, a warlock, I named Cedric after Cedric Diggory from "Harry Potter". His death shocked me more than Adric's. My previous character, whose name changed due to campaign events, was originally "Granger", not named after Hermione Granger but rather my real life boss. I had a cleric of Justice named Judge Reinhold, after the actor. |
