I believe it's the rod of wonders... It creates random effects...

Give it to a stupid king and tell him it creates fireballs using Bluff. Let the good times roll when Butterflies burst from the end of it.

No, no, no....You stick around and Bluff him that he's not doing it right when the butterflies come out. Then let the good times roll...and roll...and roll.....

Personally? A portable Alchemy Kit. There is no wild card like having acid, smelling salts, flash pellets, and more on hand wherever you need. Almost better than magic, at lower levels.

You can use two as a ladder or monkeybars or whatever that les you climb through air, so for a rogue who has invested in climb, it pretty much lets you fly slowly for as long as you can carry yourself.

Sadly, without a houserule (Or maybe a feat, I think I heard of one that lets you) you need to be able to cast spells in order to use Craft (Alchemy). I honestly think it's stupid, which is why I let anyone use Craft (Alchemy).

As for rogue gear...

Smokesticks
Disguise Kit
Team of Hirelings (<- Endlessly valuable)
Tanglefoot Bags

You may need a caster level to use Craft( alchemy ) the skill; however, you don't need it inorder to use the stuff in the kit for non-craft sorts of things.

I personally like a large supply of wands and scrolls for use with the UMD skill.

Yeah...immovable rods are fun...especially if your caster happened to have casted something relating to a mist where sight is hampered...set it at about throat level after running through a doorway and wait for the fun to start.

A bag of marbles is also funner than hell. ^_^

As I learned in my last campaign...Alchemist's Frost is extremely fun when you need an extra little elemental boost on those creepy little magma men dudes. Besides...what's more fun then throwing a keg of ale over, then dropping alchemist frost ontop of that just to watch the party of evil doers chasing after you slip and slide over the frosty ale. Mmm...delightful.

Get a collapsable grapnel hook while you're at it. Cheap, compact, very useful when you have the Wizard that claims he just can't scale that wall. Assorted short spears are good for making traps and ambushes. Just shows that Gnomes -can- bring heavy war horses to their knees.

Some adventuring equipment that you should always have as a Rogue are definately Sunrods, Tindertwigs, and Smokesticks.

.

To many people forget marbles.

Also if you want to have endless fun, get a Bag of devouring. You can rid yourself of any evidence. You can also destroy alot of your enemies magic if you are good enough. Let them scry something that no longer exist on the prime material plane.
