Let's just say that lately I've been getting a bit of trouble with spellcasters.
So I wanted to make a little list of ways to get rid of one/more/all. Various methods have been made to eliminate them, but I can only remember a few.

My own input on this would be two:
Spellthief (Base class, Complete adv.)
Lorestealer (Weapon, Weapons of Legacy)

If you know any more, I'd be glad to hear them.

Another spellcaster. Ready an action to roast/fry/electrocute/freeze/otherwise do big damage to them when they cast a spell. Note that call lightning doesn't count as "big damage", even if it's big damage over time. Even if you don't break their concentration, you just did lots of damage.

Same thing goes for invisible spellcasters. Only another spellcaster is likely to find them and can then neutralize them. Sure, you could cast true seeing on the fighter, but unless he's an archer there's little point. Use true seeing or see invisibility on your NPC mage and then fry the invisible guy.

Also, attack from multiple directions. Usually (IME) clerics go up front, leaving the wizard all alone in the back. This means there's no wall of fighters preventing the wizard from getting hit.

To do so isn't that easy, unfortunately. My PCs will often check every door in a dungeon. I say "camp" some bad guys out of the dungeon (they're collecting info or whatever) and they come in after the PCs have. They seal up the entrance as best as they can once they start seeing the carnage left behind by the heroes, then attack them when the heroes are engaged with another group. Now you have a pincer attack.

I agree with Severed head, an arcane caster with high dex and Improved initiative can badly mess up another caster's day.

They're silly, but Tanglefoot bags are pretty effective for ruining concentration, and removing the mage's dex. for other attacks.

Since their h.p. and non-will saves tend to stink traps that hit a large area instead of just the point man can do a number on them.

There are mage slayer weapons...

Unseen servant with a torch... "Go touch that other cast's spell book..."

Bows with true strike on them...

Invisible rogue, no matter what, if your concern is sneaking and not combat, get around that mage and use one of the many feats that alter your sneak attack. (Stagering strike being one of them.)

Basic... See MONK, good saves, speed and grapple the mage (and or cleric or sorcerer, ect.)

+1 mage bane composite +3 longbow + readied action to shoot anything that starts casting = 1d8+2d6+4+10 concentration check to cast a spell. that's a 17-34 DC, average 25.5 DC. Not too bad. More effective with a melee weapon perhaps, but a bow is easier to catch the mage.

there's always the ever-wonderful spell resistance or immunity/resistance to whatever particular effect their throwing at you. (elves immune to sleep, paladins immune to fear, rings of elemental resistance, etc)

and when all else fails go with the simplest way....grapple them.

Phantasmal Thief spell. Use it to gank the spellcaster's spell component pouch; he'll more or less be reduced to using magic missiles.

an occult slayer is what you need. Magic defense, mind over magic, vicious strike and even more. The list of anti-caster tricks is more than a little helpful.

i have a better way, ice assassin. use that twice on them then send it after them. teleport a mirrior of opposition in front of them. Use chalk in their face to blind them then smash the tar out of them.

In general, getting rid of weak saves is critical. Save or XXX spells are somply too brutal otherwise.

Also, spellfire wielders from forgotten realms are a nightmare for casters as they suck up the energy from spells and fire it back.

Sic a monk on them. At level 20, they will own. They have SR, all good saves, not treated as a humanoid, insane number of attacks, extremely fast, and, best of all, best grapplers in the game.

Monks aren't that great, summon a few demons to kill them.
As for the spell casters same thing, summon some demons and let them kill them.

My personal favorite (and keep in mind this uses some non WoTC rules/non 3.5 rules) at epic levels was to have a 25th level oathsworn (from Arcana Evolved) 10th level spellfire channeler. They sucked up spells like no tomorrow, they had resistance 10 to all types of elemental and energy damage, and also had SR if they ran out of space to absorb spells.

Feats like Mage Slayer make his world go round.

Try the Reaping mauler PrC from CW. Best grapplers you could possibly want, and even better when combined with Monk or Occult slayer levels.

Don't let them rest

I am about to make the same suggestion I make versus Illithids.

Step 1.
Figure out party level, and check on availability of the items mentioned below, oh, and find an decent place to attack them in. preferable favoring yourself in terrain

Step 2.-Gather up 4 men, and 12 volunteers of any race and age, give the volunteers clubs and any armor they can find, from there, you give the 4 men, their choices of Bows, Spears, or Spells (only if they are a spellcaster on this last one)

Step 3- You send the 12 volunteers into controlled melee combat, attacking in groups of 3 from opposite directions (overal forming a trianle on each attack), have the other volunteers keep the creature from retreating

Step 4- Set up the other four men in box formation and have them fire away at the creature with their weapons

Step 5. Lather rinse repeat on steps 3 and 4 until creature is dead or unconscious

The only way it seems to kill a spellcaster, is to employ magic of some sort. Ironic, no? :D

Keep throwing encounters at them to deplete their spells.

Then throw a few more at them to kill them.

No magic involved other than that of the (soon-to-be) dead spellcaster. :P

I find rockfalls, well placed traps and well hidden rogues and assassins do the job fairly well.

Decoys - an illusion of the main villain can make a fighter waste time, it just might make a spellcaster waste his best attacks. This goes hand in hand with all the other suggestions to deprive the caster of sleep. You need to either keep attacking them so they can't sleep, or hide, then get them while they're napping...

A smart caster will be covering his butt in multiple ways, so any spell that hits large areas and hurts no matter what you do (Wall of fire and Earthquake spring to mind) are very useful.
