It has it's uses... Usually is done for the day after 1 major action. But hey - some people like a game where they act, flee to another plane, and come back later repeatedly. :)

As for Dumbest Class...

Seeker of the Misty Isle.

QFT.

I've never liked the spell thief. The Hexblade rubbed me the wrong way, but some people I know swear by it, so, it can't be all bad. The Spirit Shaman is WAY too specialized and useless in most games (also, when did having an imaginary friend become a class feature?) The marshal seemed... neutered... and the healer SUCKED THE BIG ONE.

My personal worst, though?

The Wilder.

Why? Wilder is fun, it has limited powers known and it makes up for it by boosting it past the limit. ;)

Dumb Classes:

I’m going to say Healers suck the hardest, followed closely by the Marshal.

The over specialization in making people feel good is suspect enough, but a Unicorn mount? It’s very hard to take seriously. Lastly I don’t like the wilder so much, but that’s because I had a bad play experience with them.

The Harper Mage/Harper Priest

Harper Scout and Master Harper are pretty cool though.

Streetfighter from CAdv.

WHA!?!?!?!

Fighter becomes a rogue. Rogue gains a fighters HD and BAB, what's the beef?

Worst class ever is the.... wait for it... The...

Ghostwalker (from sword and fist) You actually have to let the BBEG kick the **** outta you before you gain anything useful from the class, and c'mon, play dead is one of the class features, what a real hardcase that one is...

Oh yeah, healers suck to, and so does the CW samurai.

HEXBLADE AND SPELL THIEVES 4 LIFE!!!!!!! WOOT!!!!!!!

I really didn't care for the duskblade....was a real disapointment. A wanna be melee/blaster. I wish they'd make a more bard like version of a base class gish.

Woo! 3/4 of a feat, a single sneak attack die, uncanny dodge, and an ability to "shrug off" damage, which has a low success rate...really, the DC to shake off 30+ damage? That, and you only get the option twice per day.

The Streetfighter might not be the worst class ever, but it definitely elicits a yawn from me.

Ghostwalker, on the other hand, is situationally awesome. If there's a recurring villain your DM never lets you beat, it's a no brainer. Also makes a nice PrC for that recurring villain, until the PCs can successfully ID him.

Stop that jibba-jabber. Lol, your right, I just like the name and the picture. It really is a crummy class (great for an NPC undergroun bare knuckle boxer perhaps?)

That's nonesnese.

J/k, it had great flavor, loved that, love the shadow walk. Hate the rest of the class, it's so not a PC class.

"Hey guys, let me go in first alright?"
"Why?"
"Cause I really need to this guy to beat nine shades of **** outta me'
"Uh... Why?"
"That way I can get vengence against him wrongdoing me like that"
"Right...."

At least it's now possible for a male to have a unicorn as a mount, darn those sexist beasts.

Methinks the desiginers forgot to write: female Healers get a unicorn mount, male Healers get a pegasus mount.

CWar samurai is pretty dopey. Marshal is kinda wimpy, but a cool concept. Healer is lame.

Personally, I don't like the Daggerspell classes.

Male Unicorns = Female Healers
Female Unicorns = Male Healers

Pegasus can't heal.

Healers imo aren't ment for real D&D. They're for the Mini's and NPC medics. Its kinda like Book of Exalted Deeds' Apostle of Peace, where if you and your buddies can't kill anything or harm anything. Yet you may KO it yet can't kill it...

I wonder what it would be like for the oppisite of the healer would be. Instead of cure spells, they get Inflict... would this step on the toes of Warmage?

It would step on the toes of sanity...
Anti-Healer: "Hey, my specialty is... (drumroll) Harming people!"
Krusk: "Yeah, mine too!"
Regdar: (thinks for a sec) "Mine too!"
Everybody else: "Yeah, that's what I learned Fireball / Sneak Attack / (insert here) for!"

Anyway, I always thought the stupidest class was, (I think) Fist of Hextor PrC, from the old Sword and Fist... Why? To join this PrC, you have to kill a member of their order.

Ok, lets think about it. n Fists of Hextor. Everytime someone joins, it's +1 -1, so still n Fists of Hextor. Everytime somebody gets killed on some other occassion, anytime somebody dies from natural causes (unlikely), it's n-1 Fists of Hextor.

If n ever gets 0, there are no Fists of Hextor anymore... Too bad.

Yeah, that was a stupid requirment, but that class rocked out so hard, I mean, every round you got to add a bonus to all your attack rolls or damage rolls, got a nice strength boost ability a certain number of times per day, plus, you got a super fear ability. Loved that class...

I think the War Master (or was it the Weapon Master) sucked harder than the Fist of Hextor.

I am going to say True Necromancer.

It somehwat pains me to say this since it has been my favorite PrC since it was first introduced in 3.0, but since the advent of the Dread Necromancer the class has really lost its advantage. Given, some of the class features (Major Desecration, etc) are pretty cool, but just not enough bang for the buck anymore. Also, since the Create Undead spells are designed so that the caster will be high enough over the undead created to be able to command it with a successful check (minus 1 from the Create G Undead IIRC) the +4 class feature is really lackluster.

1. Healer
2. CW Samurai(Anyone could take the Fighter and make a better Samurai for less cost.)
3. Hexblade(Check out the one in my sig.)
4. Swashbuckler(What, we had to extend the Duelist by 10 levels? How about this? http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=758370)
5. Marshal(Even with Draconic auras.)
6. Spirit Shaman
7. Shugenja
8. Ninja
9. Truenamer
10. Soulborn

I try my hand at fixing classes rather than tossing them aside. This makes me wanna fix the Healer and maybe turn it into a Inflicter instead. Hmmmm....(hamster in brain spinning the cogs)

Bard. The sacred cow needs to go. It's a PrC, not a base class.

How many bards are there in traditional fantasy literature (not people identified as bards, but those who actually used a bards features relevant to D&D)?

My count is exactly 1.

Have you read the (sadly out of print) Bard books by Keith Taylor? Or any of novels based on the Mabinogion (a collection of Welsh folklore), such Evangeline Walton's, or Lloyd Alexander's? Bards (Like Druids) come to us from Celtic (Welsh, Irish, Scottish, etc.) folklore and mythology, and there is an extensive fantasy literature that mines those sources. Not to mention that the original authors of D&D spent as much time reading actual mythology as fantasy. And then there were the Skalds of Scandinavia and Iceland who were both warriors and bards, or these lines from the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala (one of Tolkien's influences): "Wise Wipunen, wisdom-singer,/Ancient bard, and great magician,/With his magic songs lay yonder". Lots of bards in fantasy if you know where to look.

The Crusader from the book of nine swords is pretty lame. You gain random abilities before each encounter. Any character you need "ability cards" for is pretty lame.

I never understood why so many people had an issue with that. It's that exact same randomness that makes me -like- the class.

Geometer. I dunno, I felt like it was a wasted opportunity for something flavorful and fun. I've never really cared for stuff that improves the spellbook.

And vigilante. Seriously, what's up with that interpretation? And why such a horrifically situational smite ability? Just make it Smite Chaotic and be done with it.

You sir, have a dragon fetish.

Pft. The Dragon Shaman is a great fifth wheel character, he can heal, he has a breath weapon, his Draconic auras totally boost the party in a ton of ways, Draconic adaptation is pretty cool (I like the blue dragon one, for vetriloquisism at will, talk about having fun). Combined with medium armor and shields, d10 HD and a rogue's BAB, it's not a bad class, not bad at all.
TheOtherWaffle

That may be true but most vehicles have four or less wheels or 6 or more not five.

I disagree with both of those. I’ve personally seen them destroy CR's 3-5 levels above them single handedly. The druid spell list and the customer serv. ruling on regaining maneuvers have made them awesome.

Yeah, gotta put in for the crusader. One of the most fun characters I ever played. It's kinda like combining a paladin with the Juggernaut, and no worrying about some mount getting in your way.

Now you want useless? I'll give you useless.

Candlecaster. booyaka.

Votes also go out for the CW samurai (cause,y'know, they NEEDED a different version than the one in OA), The hexblade (better watch out, or I'll curse you!), and the Loremaster.

Seriously, why would I want to play a guy who reads books all day and is(basically) a huge freaking nerd? Don't I play to escape from being that guy?

Entropomancer.

So twice a day you can make a shard that does 7d6 damage, and the potentially most exciting ability, entropic field, doesn't allow any healing inside of it, so you basically get screwed if you're injured. In return you lose 5 caster levels. Trade my 8th and 9th level spells for 7d6 damage? No thanks.

That isn't to say I don't enjoy the flavor of the class, but as far as usefulness goes, bleh.
