| -Defiler of Souls-12-13-04, 06:16 PM | hey all, been awhile since i've seen any 101 threads. anyway as most peoiple know the fighter despite being slighlt sub par i ncombat really shine sin it's complete open endedness for roleplaying; fighters come in every form and from every backround imaginable so anyway the point of this thread is to post your ideas for fighter characters...please only submit roleplaying characters and not optimized fighters. as for what is considered a fighter character: no core classes besides fighter may be used and at least half of the character's levels must be fighter, also please only use prcs as a way to support and improve the flavor(aka prcs whos abilities fit into the roleplaying potential of the character) anyway without more ado, ill start with one of my own 1) soldier: levels:10 fighter ,10 dwarven defender suggested feats:hold the line, formation expert, shock trooper, combat reflexes suggested equipment: melee weapon and shield the soldier is exactly what the name implys, a soldier. with defensive stance, hold the line, and damage reduction he is quiet capable of well...holding the line even against the most devestating enemy charges. He also is perfectly capable of charging against an enemy army with great effect. inally and most importantlty his knowledge of formations allows him to work effectively with other well disciplined warriors. |
| glimeral12-13-04, 06:32 PM | The combat opportunist takes advantage of the weaknesses of others, moving about the battle field striking unerringly at their opponents exposed flanks. Specializing in weapons which increase their threatened range and feats which take advantage of the weaknesses of others the combat opportunist is a whir of blood, steal and sweat, leaving a wake of dead and dying foes behind them. Combat opportunists favor spiked chains, chain lashes, duoms, and fighting two-weapon style with a small reach weapon and a medium one-handed melee weapon (if medium size), using these weapons to double their threatened range and grant them more opportunites in combat. Combat opportunists are usually fighters, with many becoming tactical soldiers (or other PrCs which enhance their opportunistic abilities) although monks, rogues and rangers are also often combat opportunists. Suggested Levels: Fighter 10/Tactical Soldier 10 Suggested Feats: Combat Reflexes, Karmic Strike, Defensive Throw, Close Quarters Fighting, Mage Slayer, Pierce Magical Protections, Pierce Magical Concealment, Deft Opportunist, Side Step, Double Hit, Two Weapon Fighting, Improved Two Weapon Fighting, Greater Two Weapon Fighting, Dodge, Mobility, Elusive target, Spring Attack, Whirlwind Attack, Combat Expertise, Overhead Strike, Clever Wrestling, EWP: Chain Lash, EWP: Spiked Chain, Supreme Combat Expertise, Power Attack, Improved Sunder, Cleave, Great Cleave, Improved Disarm, Improved Grapple. Suggested Weapons: Halberd (Small or Medium), Longsword & Small Guisarme, Net, Duom, Spiked Chain, Chain Lash (small or medium), dagger. |

| TyraaloftheFist12-13-04, 10:27 PM | Bladedancer: You know how to dance, how to disco, and to just get down in the middle of a fight. You also get really good at acting like Drizzt without ranger levels. Suggested Levels: Fighter 10/Dervish 10+ Suggested Feats: Weapon Focus(Scimitar), Improved/Greater/Two-Weapon fighting, Combat Expertise, Dodge, Mobility, Weapon Finesse(Scimitar), Weapon Specialization(Scimitar), Improved Critical(Scimitar), Power Critical(Scimitar), Two-Weapon Defense,{Once Epic, take Perfect TWF, Greater/Improved TWD, and Eyes in the Back of Your Head.} Suggested Weapons: If you still need to ask, you're retarded. Anyway, scimitarx2 and light armor. BTW, Defiler...I'll tell you what someone else told me:"It's generally considered bad form to bump less than a day after the last post". Give it time... |
| Zilred12-13-04, 11:51 PM | Crushing Shield: Whether you can't stand charging into a melee without protection or if you just happen to like hearing your shield ring after bashing your enemies' heads; you charge shield first, riding your "board" into battle. This sort of fighter will enjoy charging down foes, bowling them over with a shield bash, and then following up with a powerful melee attack. Suggested Levels: Fighter20 (the feats make it happen) Suggested Feats: Powerful Charge, Greater Powerful Charge, Improved Shield Bash, Weapon Focus: Shield Bash, Greater and Regular Weapon Focus/Specialization: (any one-handed weapon), Shield Charge, Power Attack, Improved Sunder, Combat Brute, Dodge, Mobility, Run, Fleet of Foot Extra Feats: Improved Bull Rush, Shock Trooper, Hurling Charge, Wild Talent, Speed of Thought, Psionic Charge, Reckless Charge, Spring Attack |
| Zetakya12-14-04, 12:12 AM | I played a Guardian type fighter under 3.0 From memory he went something like; Feats: Combat Expertise, Combat Reflexes, Hold The Line, Knock Down, Improved Trip, Weapon Focus: Halberd, Weapon Specialisation: Halberd, Alertness, Improved Initiative, Iron Will, Lightning Reflexes He was working on levels of Devoted Defender (was something like 11/3 when the campaign ended). He also had a fair number of cross-class skills like listen and spot to help him do his job. His crowning moment was standing back to back with a Cleric holding off foes while the party Wizard franticly worked on undoing a spell-o-doom. One of the things that made him interesting was that he had a very average stat-spread - no stat was especially high or especially low, which made him very adaptable. I think Charisma was the only stat he didn't get a + on, but only Strength had better than a +1 at the start. |

| Ramses III12-14-04, 09:35 PM | Ok here goes. This fighter is built to get as many attacks with a 2 handed weapon as possible in any situation. At higher levels, some of the feats taken will allow the build to qualify for Legendary Dreadnought in epic. Fighter 1 Power Attack, Dodge, Cleave Fighter 2 Mobility Fighter 3 Combat Expertise Fighter 4 Great Cleave Fighter 5 Fighter 6 Spring Attack, Whirlwind Attack Fighter 7 Fighter 8 Improved Critical (Scythe) Fighter 9 Combat Reflexes Fighter 10 Improved Bull Rush Fighter 11 Fighter 12 Shock Trooper, Improved Sunder Fighter 13 Fighter 14 Combat Brute Fighter 15 Weapon Focus (Scythe) Fighter 16 Greater Weapon Focus (Scythe) Fighter 17 Fighter 18 Weapon Specialization (Scythe), GWS (Scythe) Fighter 19 Fighter 20 Improved Initiative Early in your level progression, you get the option of using Cleave, Great Cleave, and Whirlwind Attack to maximize your number of attacks. Use WWA only if you are surrounded by a bunch of weak foes. If you have one big target and several mooks, use all of your primary attacks against the mooks and cleave to the big guy. Improved Critical gives you a lot better chance of using Cleave and Great Cleave at higher levels, and Shock Trooper and Combat Brute give you better options for charging and for using Bull Rush to control the battlefield. Improved Initiative meets the prerequisite to take Dire Charge at level 21. |
| EvilDuck12-14-04, 09:59 PM | hey all, been awhile since i've seen any 101 threads. That's a bad thing? Here: Snow Savant's Gatling-Gun Tripper Build (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=163005) Yes, it's optimized, and there are various different flavors you could come up with for it. I personally like the idea of a former executioner who traded in his hood and his noose for a deadly chain, applying his neck-breaking skills to his fighting style. |
