I am considering for the use of divine metamagic.

Assume you have an old age druid and with a 32 point distribution you get 18 cha and wis, then you get 20 cha for a total of 8 turning attempts, that lives you with roughly 1 (or 2 with extra turning assuming nightsticks are barred from use) You have to spend 3 feats on divine metamagic, is it worth it?

What books do you have available? Bite of the Werebear (6th level Druid spell from Spell Compendium) would probably be worth it all on its own for a combat oriented Druid. Free Power Attack along with the crazy stat boosts like +16 to Str is pretty impressive. If you can get a 2nd persist off, and want to be more party friendly, the Mass Vigor spells are persistable to give the party Fast Healing all day.

I also kind of like the idea of taking DM Quicken with a Druid if you are more of a caster type. There's a lot of versatility there. You can also take the Cloistered Cleric variant class from Unearthed Arcana at level 1 to get 6+int Skill points to start with.

Ye spell compendium is available, but I am mostly contemplating the heavy feat cost for both divine quicken and divine persistent

Curiously enough, DMM has been errata'd so that you can only use it on cleric spells (read: spells gained specifically from having levels in cleric.)

Hrm I cant see this mentioned in the errata, here is the quote"

"Page 80: Divine Metamagic feat
The boldface text needs to be added to the Benefit
paragraph of the feat description:
When you take this feat, choose a metamagic feat that
you have. This feat applies only to that metamagic feat.
As a free action, you can take the energy from turning
or rebuking undead and use it to apply a metamagic feat
to divine spells that you know. . . ."

Seems that according to the errata it works on all divine spells.

It works on all divine spells, yes, otherwise you'd have favoured souls and archivists crying in their sleep. It depends whether you want to have CL20 at level 20 or not. Being a Cleric 1/Druid 19 is pretty awesome, as you only lose out on one 8th and 9th level spell. Having full caster progression (at the expense of your other class features) would require Druid18/Contemplative 1 (Balance Domain)/Sacred Exorcist 1 and would require some feat to give you K (religion) as a class skill.

1 level of cleric wouldn't hurt, as the only other feat you really need to take is Natural Spell. After that, your feats are free to wallow in whatever you want them to be. If you're human, you still have 7 feats.

Extend Spell (Planning Domain), Persistant Spell, Divine Metamagic (Persistant), Quicken Spell, Divine Metamagic (Quicken), Extra Turning, Extra Turning.

Hrm I liked the sacred exorcist idea, but i dont think a druid has access to the spells required to take the class, so i guess the 1 lvl cleric idea seems more appealing.

The campaign I am playing in is a planar one spanning lvls 9 to 15. Do you think i should start as 1 cleric/8 druid or just pick up cleric later? And is it worth delaying my druid progression at those levels?

That said, are you aware of any nature deities that have access to the planning domain?

Ubtao, if you consider having the master of the jungle as a nature deity...

Damn good choice, too bad i cant pick FR exclusive deities (i can pick shared ones like corellon, moradin , lolth etc..

I wonder if you can worship 2 deities, in that case i can pick a separate deity for my Cleric lvl, gonna look up the neutral ones.. would be nice if there was a list of gods by domain..

It would need to be checked, but I don't remember that druid must worship nature deities... or any deity at all, for that matter.;)
