When imbuing weapons with the Kensai, you are allowed to imbue both ends of a double weapon. What about using 2 different weapons? The double weapon I can see since it is still one object, but is imbuing 2 say shortswords just take double the xp since its two blades or is this not possible?

Im pretty sure it has to be a single weapon, which in spite of it having two ends, a double-weapon still is.

I have to agree that its not possible. However if a character really wanted to I think as a DM I'd allow him to split the magical bonuses in half and allocating them to 2 different weapons, as long as the weapons are of the same type (2 short swords).

Which would really weaken the classes ability with weapons. From a flavor point of view it's pretty clear that it is a class about focus and concentration -- using a single weapon with one's will focused into it seems to be very much in keeping with this philosophy.

The only way I would allow two weapons is for one of the two following reasons:

1) They have already clearly shown that both weapons are intricate to their fighting style... which means they should have one of the Complete Warrior weapon style feats. Twin Sword Style, Cresent Moon, High Sword Low Axe, etc.

2) The weapons are connected, somehow, and more t han just 'this smith made them together'. A two part Ancestral Relic, or matched Legacy Weapons like the kurki from the book, etc.

Is there a fighting style feat for a double weapon? I remember making a Monk with a Double Sword (using a feat from Eberron to use it as a Monk weapon), and don't recall finding anything like what you speak of.

Maybe I should look again...

Mechanically there isn't much of a reason to disallow the character from imbuing two weapons (similar to working both ends of a double weapon). Both weapons should be weaker (to compensate for having two), but you get some bonus in that it's harder to disarm or sunder your class ability away. Then again, the monk basically imbues his whole body and doesn't have to worry about disarms or sunders (baring the loss of a limb).

However, I would not allow it for flavor reasons allow. The Kensai is all about focusing his ki into a single weapon. A single minded focus that allows him to create a signature weapon to take out his foes. That's just strictly personal taste though.

from an flavor point of view, a double weapon makes sense, that weapon is YOUR
weapon, even if it is 2 ended, 2 weapons dont, the idea is that you have almost a relationship with your weapon, having 2 is like cheating on your girlfriend, as for the double weapon split, make it so the entire weapon is = the highest you can make it -1, like a mindblade with 2
s sword stile, and make the ability for both ends the same
