| Ztyx10-31-06, 07:19 AM | Iron Will feat? Duskblade from PHB2? |
| Tikael10-31-06, 07:20 AM | The iron will feat is not bad. You wouldn't even need to multiclass. Or you could look into the force of personality feat, which lets you add your Cha modifier instead of your Wisdom if your Cha is higher for some reason... |
| NatchFeral10-31-06, 07:28 AM | If you are human, take a level is Duskblade. Using a subtimal feat (Iron Will) is not a good idea. Spending 2 feats is an even worse idea. |
| Wolfvyn10-31-06, 07:34 AM | You could always start down the combat form feat tree if you're build isn't nailed down yet, take a two lvl dip into fighter for combat focus and combat stability and then take combat vigor once you hit lvl 9. It'll give you fast healing 4, a +4 on will saves and a +8 against disarm, trips, bullrushes, overruns, ect. |
| Orchomenos10-31-06, 08:04 AM | Perhaps a few levels of druid? Yes, you will loose a +1 BAB at first level. But your Animal Companion will be stronger & you will have a few useful spells. |
| Nephlite10-31-06, 09:25 AM | 1. Hexblade from CW 2. Knight PHB2 3. Duskblade from PHB2 |
| Slyver10-31-06, 11:35 AM | As mentioned, 1, 2 or 3 levels of hexblade can be an excellent way to increase your will save, depending on your stats. Occult slayer is an excellent +1 bab, anti-caster class, for any number of levels. The combat focus feats are quite nice. If your con is high enough, steadfast determination is a fantastic way to get a decent will save, and as a ranger, you automatically qualify. I would say the best way however, is to not worry so much about gaining +1 bab every level. If you head to the CO board and post your current build and build concept there, we can help you truly maximize your character potential. Slyver |
| LordPendragon10-31-06, 02:43 PM | Fighter is also essentially a "good Will" class, since you can just use the bonus feat on a useful feat, and then use one of your level feats to get Iron Will or Steadfast Determination. Other than that, the Knight has a nice big HD to go along with the good save. |
| bruiserdeck11-01-06, 12:20 AM | hm... I may toss in a few levels of of some other class after level 12 or so... but i think for now i will just buy a +2 or +4 will item... |
| Onikani11-01-06, 12:47 AM | the dervish prestige has high will saves, and is relativley easy to get into as a ranger if you start planning early enough. Also keep in mind that any high will class will give you a +2 in will at first level. Going to second level will only give you +3. You may be better off taking only one level. And if that is the case you may want to give up 1 level of BAB. Depending on your stats you may want to try a warmage, druid, or cleric. Warmage - you get a slew of useful range attacks that you can cast in light armor, and they work nicely with Point Blank shot (if you took that). It sounds crazy, but i had a Ranger2/Warmage 6, and flame arrow is fun when you can shoot 3 arrows a turn. :D Druid - again more spells, and the druid level stacks with your ranger levels for figuring out your animal companion. (actually, it counts as 2 ranger levels). Druid/Ranger is about as iconic as you get for a lone woodsman character. Cleric - Um, spells. High will and Fort saves. Can cast in any armor. and learning how to turn undead aint bad. By the way, Taking the travel domain is just sick for a ranger. Hope this helps! |
