| Shadowfax712-28-05, 05:56 PM | Has the Elemental Wizard (Air, Earth, Fire, Water) from Tome of Magic (2nd ed. AD&D version) been remade for 3.5 in any WoTC book ?? |
| KenderBryant12-28-05, 07:16 PM | Not that I know of. However a book called Occult Lore by Atlas Games has a pretty decent Elementalist class and some new spells for it. It needs to be updated to include the new spells from 3.5. |
| Lord Dastir12-28-05, 08:37 PM | Don't have my books right now, but IIRC the Complete Arcane has somethging called the Elemental Savant or somesuch... Maybe this is what you are looking for? |
| Thurbane12-28-05, 08:52 PM | Encyclopedia Arcane: Elementalism, the Primordial Force from Mongoose Publishing also includes rules on Elemental Wizards... ...but all you'd really have to do for 3.5 is create 4 elemental schools - then treat an elementalist as a Specialist Wizard with an opposition school of the opposing element (Fire - Water, Earth - Air)...also, feats like Spell Focus could apply to one of the four Elemental schools... |
| Ouranos Harpy12-28-05, 09:07 PM | Or you can take the Shugenja class from Complete Divine or Oriental Adventures, tweak it so that it's arcane and not divine, destroy the cosmetic pseudo-asian influence, slap on a classic occulist elemental theme and voila! You have an Elementalist. |
| Lord Dastir12-29-05, 08:54 AM | Just checked my copy of the Complete Arcane... Elemental Savant on p32. Seems to me to be exactly what you are looking for, unless of course you were looking for a base class. However, based on the prereqs, you should be able to qualify for this PrC easily by level 5 (6 if you decide to go Sorcerer) |
| StevenO12-29-05, 08:23 PM | Elemental Savant PrC from the Complete Arcane (and previously Tome and Blood) may be the best fit. If I remember correctly the Wu Jen (also Complete Arcane and maybe OA) in a base class similiar to a wizard that specializes in some form of elemental magics. |
| Shadowfax712-29-05, 08:30 PM | Yes, I am looking for a base class. I didn't want a class w/an Asian flavor like the Wu-Jen. I never heard of the Encyclopedia Arcane: Elementalism by Mongoose Publishing . . . but sounds like what I am looking for if they actually took the 2nd AD&D class and made it 3.5. Can you tell me more ?? a lot of these 3rd party books come and go, never to be seen again. I have played around with "Earth Specialization" and Spell Focus: Earth spells already, but wanted to see if a conversion of the original was ever published. |
| Thurbane12-29-05, 11:24 PM | EA:E by mongoose wasn't an adaptation of 2E Elementalists - it was one of a series of books that focused on different aspects of spellcasting. There was one about Wild magic, one about Battle magic etc... ...more info... (http://www.spiritgames.co.uk/rpgsin.php?UniqueNo=3650) |
