3.0 multiclass variant [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-04-06, 06:35 PM I sold my DMG 3.0 and bought 3.5. I was searching and searching and they didn't include the 3.0 multiclass variant (ie: 2nd edition multiclass style Fighter/Cleric from level 1 for example).

Can anyone throw me a bone on this, can I get this anywhere else online, maybe an SRD?

Those are called apprentice levels: I loved them.

And no, they are not updated for 3.5.

I don't find them overpowered. Not too much changed in 3.5 for them not to work though.
Too bad you sold 3.0 DMG (one of the few reasons to have the old book).

Nope, gestalt is Apprentice levels x2.

Apprentice levels gave reduced benefits by having them.
A Fighter 0 didn't get a bonus feat.
A spellcaster 0 have reduced spells/day.
Fighter 0/Spellcaster 0: would have fewer spells/day than spellcaster 1, no bonus feat, etc.
You chose the class for skills/hps from one class at beggining of campaign.

When you would become level 2: you get the abilities of both at level 1. You also get the other HD and skills that you didn't choose earlier.

It was a decent and balanced way: gestalt is not as balanced.
