3.5 Question About Archmage's high arcana abilities [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-21-03, 01:12 AM Most of the abilities say that it costs "one X-level spell slot"

what exactly does that mean? does it mean that you permanently lose the slot to be able to use the high arcana?

or does it mean that whenever you use the high arcana you lose 2 spell slots (one for the spell and the other for the high arcana)?

i actually NEVER understood this :confused:

11-21-03, 01:38 AM You forgo that spell slot when you get the High Arcana, and will never again be able to use it.

For example, when you forgo a 5th-level spell slot to get Spell Power, every day from then on out you prepare one less 5th-level spell per day.
