| ksbsnowowl07-13-04, 10:51 PM | Not that I know of. |
| Harliquinn07-14-04, 08:39 AM | Most likely in Complete Scout (or whatever the roguish book will be). |

| Harliquinn07-14-04, 11:23 AM | THe way concealment works, I think it did need a change there. Other than that and the skills (I think it still gets Wilderness Lore, etc) it's pretty easy to concert to 3.5. The other thing is, what Magic Weapon for the Deepwood Sniper isn't nearly as good as it was when magic arrows and bows stacked. Since once you have a magic bow/ranged weapon, your Magic Weapon ability is wasted. Since you get it at roughly 8th character level you'll most likely have a magical bow. |

Actually, the Magic Weapon ability is about as effective as it was in 3.0; Magic Weapon is not able to affect arrows (as its Greater cousin can). In fact, it is more useful in 3.5, where its application to a non-magical 'back up' bow will allow it to by-pass DR. Its application in 3.0 would not grant that ability. |
| Harliquinn07-14-04, 12:43 PM | Actually I believe (Don't have books in front of me) that the Deepwood Sniper's use of Magic Weapon allowed its use on ammunition just like the Great Magic Weapon spell. |
| ksbsnowowl07-14-04, 08:07 PM | I believe that the Deepwood Sniper's use of Magic Weapon allowed its use on ammunition just like the Great Magic Weapon spell.Nope. It works exactly like Magic Weapon, except it has an additional restriction on what its target can be (ie- projectile weapons). Ammunition is not a projectile weapon; ammunition is the projectile fired from a projectile weapon. From the Deepwood Sniper class description Magic Weapon (Sp): At 2nd level, the character can produce an effect identical to that of a magic weapon spell cast by a cleric of her deepwood sniper level. This ability is usable once per day on projectile weapons only.Emphasis mine. From the 3.0 SRD Magic Weapon Transmutation Level: Brd 1, Clr 1, Pal 1, Sor/Wiz 1, War 1 Components: V, S, DF Casting Time: 1 action Range: Touch Target: Weapon touched Duration: 1 minute/level Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless, object) Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless, object) Magic weapon gives a weapon a +1 enhancement bonus to attack and damage rolls. If the character is a good cleric, the cleric of a good deity, or a paladin, the weapon is considered blessed, which means it has special effects on certain creatures. This spell cannot be cast on a natural weapon, such as an unarmed strike.Emphasis mine. Note that it says 'weapon,' not ammunition. From the 3.0 SRD Greater Magic Weapon Transmutation Level: Brd 3, Clr 4, Pal 3, Sor/Wiz 3 Components: V, S, M/DF Casting Time: 1 action Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Target: One weapon or fifty projectiles (all of which must be in contact with each other at the time of casting) Duration: 1 hour/level Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless, object) Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless, object) This spell gives a weapon an enhancement bonus to attack and damage of +1 per three caster levels (maximum +5). An enhancement bonus does not stack with a masterwork weapon’s +1 bonus on attacks. Alternatively, the character can affect up to fifty arrows, bolts, or bullets. The projectiles must all be of the same type, and they have to be together in one group (such as in the same quiver). Projectiles (but not thrown weapons) lose their transmutation when used. If the character is a good cleric, the cleric of a good deity, or a paladin, the weapon is considered blessed, which means it has special effects on certain creatures.Again, emphasis mine. Note that the Magic Weapon family of spells differentiates between weapons and ammunition. The 3.5 spells are unchanged in regard to the target of each spell, and the fact that GMW allows you to affect ammunition, and MW does not. |
| Harliquinn07-15-04, 10:32 AM | Then we just played the Deepwood Sniper or the spell wrong in 3.0 then *laugh* Thanks for the references. Guess it was a crappy ability in 3.0 too if played as written :) |
