3.5 Why does Invisible Blade have Far Shot as a prerequisite when its a melee based? [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-06-04, 05:39 AM Why does Invisible Blade (Complete Warrior), have Far Shot as a prerequisite when its a melee based prestige classe?

Wouldn't it make more sence to have Weapon Finesse or even Skill Focus (Bluff) as a requirement since that's what the abilities in this class would use more?

I could see Far Shot for something like the Master Thrower prestige class though...

What do you think?

09-06-04, 05:41 AM I asked myself the same question. Point Blank Shot and Far Shot?! I'm going to be using melee, why do I need ranged combat feats?

I don't have an answer for this, and I'd really like an explanation aswell.

Point blank shot and far shot were not meant to be prereqs for an invisible blade. The author wrote something about this on these boards. I haven't been on the boards fer a while, but if you can search again, i'd suggest searching for it. Or maybe some one who actually knows what they are talking about will come along and give you a link or something.

09-06-04, 06:06 AM The prerequisites are clearly wrong. In my campaign, I have changed point blank shot and far shot to two-weapon fighting and dodge.

Would be nice to find out what they are actually supposed to be though.....

09-06-04, 06:15 AM The prerequisites are correct.... for the original 10-level Invisible Blade class. But when it was put into Dragon magazine they shortened it into a 5-level class, but they did not change the prereqs.

The latest version of the Invisible Blade (as a 10-level class) has PointBlank Shot, Weapon Finesse and Weapon Focus (Kukri or Dagger) as prereqs and can be found here (http://www.wakinglands.com/htm_files/the_prestige_classes_page.htm)

the original I. blade was throught to be a 10 levels prc and got cut to just 5.

09-07-04, 04:35 PM The creator of the class has said that (what was listed above) would also work as the pre-reqs. However, said creator also stated that the pre-reqs as written serve to broaden the class. As such, no change is official or necessary.

09-09-04, 10:24 AM Well, how about this: daggers are throwing weapons too! And you can make sneak attacks within 30' of a flatfooted or denied-dex opponent, so throwing feats aren't unreasonable for a master of the dagger...
