This template assumes 22 (+6) Dex., normal Comp. Long Bow and normal arrows and fighting #1 fav enemy. Only specials and feats that apply for attack and damage mods are listed.

DnD v3.5

lvl 6 Ranger

Feats = Rapid Shot, Many Shot, FarShot, PointBlank Shot, Weapon Focus(Comp. Long Bow)
Special = Fav. Enemy #1 = +4 A/D
BAB = +6/1

+

lvl 2 Deep Wood Sniper

Special = Magic Weapon, Keen arrows (19-20 threat range), Imp. Crit. (x3 +1 = x4)
BAB = +2

+

lvl 1 Rogue

Special = Sneak Attack 1d6
BAB = +0

+

lvl 1 Order of the Bow Initiate

Special = Sneak Attack 1d6
BAB = +1

------------------------
Math:
Dex 22(+6) + (BAB +9/+4) + Fav enemy #1 (+4 A/D) + Magic Weapon (+1 A/D) + Point Blank Shot (+1 A/D) + Focus (+1) + Rapid Shot (-2) = 20/15/20 Attack Bonus
and
6 extra dmg. + 1d8 (comp long bow) * 4 (Imp. Crit.) = 56 + 1d6 sneak attack (rogue) + 1d6 sneak attack (OotBI) = 68

Average Dmg on a crit is = 46

Average Dmg. w/o a Crit. = 22

Sound right? I miss anything? Do anything wrong? What do you all think? :D

Don't mean to put a Damper on things, but this should be in the the Character Optimisation Board. I suggest you go tere and either post again, or a link to here.

multiply physical damage, not counting sneak attack damage, by 4. Add sneak attack damage and other modifiers (+1, +2, et cetera)

That's how it's done.

6 extra dmg.
+ 1d8 (comp long bow) + 1d6 sneak attack (rogue) + 1d6 sneak attack (OotBI) = 26 * 4 (Imp. Crit.) = 104 possable dmg.

1d8 (longbow) + STR mod (mighty bow; 3?) * 4 = 44
44 + 6 extra damage, + 1d6 sneak attack (rogue) + 1d6 sneak attack (OotBI) = 62 possible

Actually, not quite. You multiply base damage and all flat modifiers on a critical hit, and then add extra dice of damage.

I'm curious, why are you using OotBI 3.0 and ranger 3.5?

Max damage per attack is:
(1d8 + 6)*4 + 2d6 SA = 64 damage.

Average damage on a crit is:
(1d8+ 6)*4 + 2d6 SA = 49

Average damage without a crit is:
1d8 + 6 + 2d6 SA = 17.5

This assumes, of course, that you can get your SA dice into play.

Phantom Lord, the extra damage from Point Blank Shot, Favored Enemy, and Magic weapon would all get multiplied on the critical. The only things that do not get multiplied on a critical are extra damage dice, from things such as sneak attack or a flaming weapon. Any flat number added to damage is always multiplied on a crit.

TrackStar, that is a good start....... now click on the Archer Build Thread link in my sig to see a 10th level archer that averages 162 damage with a single attack.

And criticals should never be assumed in these types of calculations...... unless you have access to Hunter's Mercy and Bless Weapon ;)

Awesome thanks! BTW, I am useing the 3.0 version because I did not know of a difference at the time of creation. After speaking with my brother, I found out our friend has the 3.5 version at his house so I will make the needed changes.

Wow, nice strat, I am still in the middle of reading it all but good stuff. I am tempted to make a character like you have said and hold off from useing his full potential in one of my friends games untill we reach one of his big boss's and then BAM! Kill it in one or two rounds. ;) MUHAHAHAHAHA!

That doesn't sound right. This is what I got:

6 extra dmg. + 1d8 (comp long bow) * 4 (Imp. Crit.) = 56 + 1d6 sneak attack (rogue) + 1d6 sneak attack (OotBI) = 68

Average Dmg on a crit is = 46

Actually, you're right about the max damage, and he's right about the other two.
