| Mystendanian08-05-06, 01:20 PM | I am starting a campaign where I get to make a 4th level character to start. I have been thinking about taking a level of Rogue at 1st level, then a level of wizard at the second level. At 3 and 4 I am going to take 2 levels of Human Paragon from the Unearthed Arcana book. The 2nd level of Human Paragon gives +1 of existing class, which I would take as a wizard. I am unclear, however, what exactly that would give me? Would I take all the stuff from a lvl 2 wizard and just add the stuff from the human paragon? Also, what happens when I gain another level and chose wizard? Do I then take the 3rd lvl wizard stuff, or what? Thanks, Myst |

Meanwhile, a Wizard 1/ Human Paragon 2 will cast spells as a Second Level Wizard. You gain no other benefits from the wizard class, such as skills, increase towards bonus feats or improving your familiar, extra hit dice, bab or saves. If you then become a Wizard 2/Human Paragon 2, you cast your spells as a third level wizard. But when you are looking at the wizard class to determine when you will get your bonus feats (or to determine bab, saves, or familiar bonuses) you are only considered a second level wizard. Does that make it clearer? |

You pick a spellcasting class, and you gain increased spells known, spells per day, and caster level of that class. All other functions of the class do not improve, including (but not limited to) Base Attack Bonus, saving throws, Hit Dice, skill points, and any other class features (i.e. wizard's bonus metamagic feats, cleric's turn undead). |

| Xavon_Wrentaile08-05-06, 02:46 PM | so, bonus spells based upon high INT would also increase then, right? If you mean that you gain a new spell level, would you gain the bonus Int spells; then yes. If you mean what I think you mean, then no, you only get bonu spells once, the first time you gain a spell of that level. |
