when ninjas use there ability to become invisible does it end when they attack. in CA all it says is it lasts one round it doesnt say 'as the spell' or anything like that.

Invisibility is a condition not just a spell, so therefore when it says you become invisible for one round and there is no caveat about it ending. You are invisible for one round.

lol yup my DM didnt think so and the first time i went invisable he said i provoked after i hit and ran but then i pointed out the whole one round thing. :D boy was he mad
DM= :censored: :headexplo
ME= :ayyyy!: :P
he so thought he had me
but anyways more to the point it last a full round unless its dispelled in some manner. Also since it lasts an entire round if you got the useses and need to you can continue to stay invisable by spending another ki point at the begining of your next turn before the invisability wears off.(he didnt like that either :dancin: :evillaugh )

That last bit isn't entirely true. Things that last a round end just before your turn. So you blink into existence and vanish again. It's not enough for the enemy to do anything, mind you, but if they Readied an action to shoot you when they see you, it'll take effect right then, and they'll know where you were at the start of your turn, assuming they had line of sight.

Well, it makes sense. Even if you remained comlpltely invisible, they'd be able to tell you were there at that exact moment. SOMETHING has to be stabbing Frank; people dont just spontaneously become stabbed. Now, if you weren't paying attention and Frank suddenly slumped over, that's another story.

Keep in mind though this is a ready action compared to a swift action - this is a race of reflex at this point. If someone is going ot shoot you the moment you re-appear, it might make sense to do an initiative check or reflex check between the shooter and the ninja to 'shoot' before he goes invisible.

The wonders of interpretation. :D

Actually, the game mechanic is that if you ready an action to interrupt someone, you go first regardless of how slow you are or how fast they are. So there isn't any game reason to reroll initiative or reflexes like you suggest. If you wanted to houserule stuff like that, you could, of course.

yeah, it'd be a houserule or DM consideration. even if it ends just on your turn, it still ends just before it, so that means you're about to act. If you intend to keep staying invisible, chances are you're already into the motions of activating it while the other person is taking their shot.

True, by the mechanics they are going first, but remember a round (or rather, set of rounds) is really a flurry of action, all of it happening at nearly the same time or in a progressive manner of real time and space.

swift action is a second, a split second, or something of the nature.
a standard action might be a second or two, but is almost never shorter than that or longer.

but yeah, not I'd be arguing logic and physics, so I won't go there, for all our sakes!.

Course, easy solution - take IUS, then take deflect arrows. Now you don't have to worry when one archer prepares for you.

Just don't do this in a roomful.
