Hi folks,
Regarding the Quivering Palm attack, the PHB says that a Monk must "announce her intent before making her attack roll." I understand that the game would not be served by PC Monks rolling successful hit rolls then casualy mentioning, "Oh, by the way, that was a Quivering Palm."

What about the NPC Monk? To whom do they "announce" their intentions?

My thinking here is that the NPC, as a function of being run by the GM, announces nothing.

As always, I appreciate the thoughtful comments.

Thanks in advance for your take on this issue.

For the NPC monk, the PC's need to trust the DM that he is truthful and that he keeps track of their opponent's attacks.
