In 3.0 the Widen Spell feat only added 50% to the area effect of the spell cast...In 3.5 it was doubled to 100%...

WIDEN SPELL [METAMAGIC]
Benefit: You can alter a burst, emanation, line, or spread shaped spell to increase its area. Any numeric measurements of the spell’s area increase by 100%.A widened spell uses up a spell slot three levels higher than the spell’s actual level.
Spells that do not have an area of one of these four sorts are not affected by this feat.

In 3.0 the 5th level Special gain "Enhanced Spell Area" for War Wizard of Cormyr was "Any time a war wizard of 5th level casts a spell modified by the widen spell feat, the spell area increases by 100% rather than 50%."

But with the 3.5 change to Widen Spell, it works that way for everyone.

Was this updated in the players guide to Faerun? (I do not have a copy)

Is there an errata somewhere to deal with this?

Am I interpreting something wrong here?

Any help is greatly appreciated....

Thanks...

I know of no Errata, I'd just increase it by 50%, so instead of 100% increase its 150% increase now. A 50' radius fireball :mage:

I can see that as one interpretation...I could also see the concept of doubling a double being a triple...

a 60' radius fireball.....

Uh, how far away did you say you cast that thing?

I play a WW; we went with tripling. It's nice but doesn't seem to be unbalancing, especially since you can't stack the same metamagic feat anymore (I used to throw x2 widened fireballs around).

is there a 3.5 WW build, or did you just convert it from 3.0?

Just converted it from 3.0. It's really close already; and it doesn't seem to be an unbalanced class. Fun, but not unbalanced.
