a 20th level monk and a good PrC. [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-16-05, 12:20 PM does anyone know a good PrC to a 20th level monk with vow of poverty, i have seen the Tattoed monk and the drunken master, i like them both, but the drunken master don´t get monk abilities, that realy sucks, because it is a great PrC, do any of you know other monk PrCs?

03-16-05, 12:22 PM With a VoP, you could easily go for Initiate of Psitis Sophia. Levels stack for monk abilities (some) and it is specifically the Good-aligned monk PrC.

Or you could go Epic and stick with straight monk.

03-16-05, 05:42 PM I would say Shou Disciple (5), Dervish, Kensai, there's a bunch. You really need to think how and where you can improve your free abilities without having to invest in magic items because...well you can't own anything with VoP.

All the PrC's mentioned have quick bonuses as well as long term bonuses, the kensai allowing to essentially enchant yourself further than your VoP already does.

There's some real problems with the VoP that I'm sure some of the people here will be happy to point out for you.

where is the Shou Disciple?

03-17-05, 02:28 AM If you have the Feats, I recommend taking Eschew Materials (core) and multiclassing to Sorceror. Then take Combat Casting (Core) and at the earliest opportunity. As soon as possible, jump into the Enlightened Fist, and then ride that up to the top. It will take time to pan out fully, but you'll come to an excellent Caster progression, stacktastic monk abilities, plus some pretty keen uses for your spell slots and stunning fist attempts.

Otherwise, Kensai is an excellent choice for an Epic VoP monk, if you're not interested in spellcasting. Especially if your DM continues the Kensai's advancement on a linear scale.
