| BaboonKingZ03-09-08, 11:47 PM | Hey everybody, how's it going? Um yeah so i have never made a fighter and i am new to these forums, so i am not sure what everybody is talking about when the say things like, " i chose the power attack line/tree of feats for my fighter." So my question to you all is what are the lines/trees that a fighter can follow? Thank you in advance and also if you wouldnt mind, i am not so clear on all the acronyms, so spelling things out for me would really help lol. Thank you so much. |

Dodge is another. by itself it is almost as bad a Toughness, but it qualifies you for a lot of pretty cool feats. Combat Expertise is another. It qualifies you for some others that help with some special combat manuevers and defense. There's also Point Blank Shot and Improved Unarmed Strike. I could go on. Mounted Combat, Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Focus... There are a great deal of "trees". Sometimes they are as easy as looking at how the list of feats in the Players Handbook are organized. Under Point Blank Shot you have Far Shot, Precise Shot, Improved Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, Many Shot and Shot on the Run. If you go to other books the list goes on and on. These are all great for archery and any kind of ranged combat. The Power Attack chain features Cleave, which is a good one, but goes on to Great Clave and Improved Bull Rush, Overrun and Sunder. This is another one that is expanded greatly in other releases, including some cool tactical feats. The Dodge tree often gives way to Mobility and Spring Attack, but can then tie into Whirlwind Attack. I'm only quoting things from the Players Handbook! It takes some research to really come up with some original. |

Looking at the list you can, at a glance, determine which feats are a prerequisite of other similar feats. When someone talks about the mounted combat feats/tree you can take a quick glance at the ls it and see which feats require the feat mounted combat to take. When someone talks about the power attack, the mean a series of feats based off of power attack. The same for combat expertise list. Often when a feat tree is talked about it will include more than just the core feats and include any of few hundred feats out there for a fighter. |
