cog_and_taz 10-21-06, 08:36 AM	Thank you for choosing to help. Okay guys, I'm turning to all of you again because you helped me so much with my sister's beguiler. My mother finally decided to start playing D&D, as an anthropomorphic bat(or possibly raven). Now, she's a huge discworld fan, and frankly, I can't blame here, it's an excellent series:) . Anyways, she was looking to play a discowrld-style witch(I'd just go for shadowfoot's one, but that's standard witch and not discworld one). so... I was wondering if there was a class on either crystal keep, SRD, ECS, PHB or these boards that would fit the bill. Can someone help?

Mandarbgrim 10-21-06, 10:08 AM	I've read most of Pratchett's books a couple times, & I don't think the concept of a Discworld Witch translates over very well to D&D. Magic Users on the Discworld don't constantly use their abilities the way characters do in D&D. Their only key ability besides this is Borrowing, so if you can sort out a mechanic for that ability then you could just adjust an existing Witch classes power level to add it on, & be done with it.

Mandarbgrim 10-21-06, 02:16 PM	You could. I would probably go with a Bequiler from PHB 2 or something like that before Sorceror. You could probably take the Witch Spell List on p. 175 of the DMG & tack it onto the Sorceror as their permanent spells known list. Add in advanced learning at every level they gain a new spell level & 1st to add another curse, enchantment, or witch-like spell. Create a Borrowing ability that increases & esculates over the 20 levels. Incease HD to 8, Good Will Save, 4 Skill points. Decent Spell list. Simple Weapons. No Armor. That should work out alright. Probably even underpowered. Maybe throw in Brew Potion with ability to make potions of spells not on spell list.
cog_and_taz 10-21-06, 10:32 PM	:bow: :clap: Thank you! That's exactly what I needed, I'll go with that. What shall I choose for the "witch-like spell"? Druid spells, enchantment, illusion or transmutation? Or maybe something else entirely? Borrowing would let the witch go comatose and borrow the body of a creature(no will save, but there must be an agreement) of up to one HD per level for an hour per level, hmmm.........
