Is there any class that can sub a cleric in a party? Like that would take the role of healer?

druid's not too bad of a choice. A bard an do it to a much more limited extent.

Or just be an inventor and make a bunch of healing potions and cure-alls.

no clerics are part of the CR system(and druids)each is so powerfull that every party REQUIRES one to do correct CR challenges but each is so powerfull that more than one breaks the game.

why would you want to substitute a cleric/druid?there awesome.

Many people dislike the concept of someone who is so devoted (either to a power or just to a force) that you can actually draw magical power out of it. Faith is a hard thing to "fake," even for the sake of character.

Personally, my suggestion would be the Healer class from the Mini Handbook; it combines a smaller spell list (healing only) with the paladin's mount (minus the combat ability), d6 hit die, and light armor (as per bard). In exchange, you don't have to claim to worship any power or force or anything like that.

i worship myself for 9th level spells,i worship good,i worship heroics.gods are a moot point for clerics since you could worship CHEESE and get spells.

It doesn't matter that you have choice in what to worship; what matters is the degree to which you must worship.

And if you do anything at all questionable with your powers, then you lose them all for a purposely-undefined period of time. It would be even harder worshipping yourself, because then you lose your powers if you do anything that you think is questionable.

Apart from the druid, no other class can really substitute for the cleric. Even the druid have trouble substituting for the cleric. This is because cleric has a monopoly over negative status healing effects as well as healing.

no thats a paladin, and thats if you commit an EVIL action.clerics are much much less strict.its if you change alingment or intentionally violate against the ethos.rarely do people not do what they think they should dont you agree :D

I wonder what Gorgonzola would have for Domains...

A replacement for the cleric? Go Bard!!! You don't even have to take the cure spells, just get yourself a wand and get ready to heal. Of course, if you lose consciousness, your party is pretty much wasted, but that goes for the cleric as well...

Druids could sub for a Cleric.

Druid, bard, paladin, potions, and a rogue with UMD and a wand or scrolls of cure x wounds.

I played a Paladin in a group as the only healer. We just spent a lot of money on cure light wounds scrolls and later, when we could afford them, wands. With lay on hands you can give an emergency heal in combat, and then basically make sure everyone has some potions and just play really carefully.

Druid is a fine choice, I am sure the Bard could do the same thing my Paladin did, but would be a little more dicey without Lay on hands.

The Mini's handbook has two good classes that can sub for the Cleric, both the Favored Soul (sorcerer of clerics) and Healer class.

All i have to say is if you want to join a group as a druid, make sure they already have a healer, or else you will find yourself unable to prepare your cool spells cuz everybody knows you can heal, and they'll be expecting it

That's like saying it isn't cool to heal. I take offense at that

Being a full time healer can be uninteresting to some players. As long as the party is willing to spend the cash on scrolls and wands, I don't think you need to devote much of your spell casting to memorizing cures.

Also, my experience with a druid is that between your pet and wildshape, you have a bunch of things to do already in combat that devoting some of your spell casting to healing is not that big of a sacrifice.

That being said, each player has their own style.

Paladin with Hospitalier prestiege class. Good fighter, easy to get into, decent healer.
