| Lavis Knight09-30-04, 02:11 PM | I have been trying to garner a character concept of mine for a long time, so i decided to start with a divine spell caster and shuffle his abilities around. If anyone could take a close look i would really appreciate it ^^. I still don't have a name for it though. So wherever the class name should be you'll see this: "" It is kind of a combination between the Divine Crusader from the Complete Divine and maybe the Hospitaler. Alignment: Any. Hit Die: d8. Class Skills: The class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Profession (Wis) Skill Points at 1st Level: (2 + Int modifier) x4. Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 2 + Int modifier. BAB: As Fighter Saves: As Cleric Class Abilities: 1st- Aura, Domain Focus 5th- Bonus Feat 10th-Bonus Feat 15th-Bonus Feat 20th-Bonus Feat Spells per day chart-Spells per day as combat Sorcerer (Although class doesn't cast spontaneously). Thus by level 20 all levels of spells reach 4 per day. Class Features All of the following are class features of the . Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A is proficient with all simple and one martial weapon and with light and medium armor and shields (except tower shields). Aura (Ex): A of a chaotic, evil, good, or lawful deity has a particularly powerful aura corresponding to the deitys alignment (see the detect evil spell for details). who dont worship a specific deity but choose the Chaotic, Evil, Good, or Lawful domain have a similarly powerful aura of the corresponding alignment. Domain Focus: Every has a chosen domain. Domains are provided on page ?? of the Players Handbook. A chosen domain influences what magic he can perform, his values and how others might see him. At first level a chooses one domain and gains the granted power of the domain. (If the domain granted power includes the addition of a skill or skills to the cleric class skill list, add it to the class skill list for the instead.) The also gains the ability to cast spells from that domain. (see below). Spells per Day: A casts divine spells. He may only prepare and cast spells from his chosen domain (See above). Effectively, a has a class spell list of only nine spells (one spell per level.) To prepare or cast a spell, a must have a Wisdom score equal to at least 10+ the spell level. The difficulty class for a saving throw against a spell is 10+ the spell level+ the Wis modifier. The also gets bonus spells based on his Wisdom. A prepares and casts spells as a cleric, except that he cannot spontaneously cast cure or inflict spells. Bonus Feats: Starting at 5th level, a gets a bonus combat-oriented feat in addition to any other feats a character may be entitled to. The gains an additional bonus feat at 5th level and every five levels thereafter (10th, 15th, 20th). These bonus feats must be drawn from the feats noted as bonus feats. A must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums. These bonus feats are in addition to the feat that a character of any class gets from advancing levels. A is not limited to the list of bonus feats when choosing these feats. (From the Hospitaler list) Chaotic, Evil, Good, and Lawful Spells: A cant cast spells of an alignment opposed to his own or his deitys (if he has one). Spells associated with particular alignments are indicated by the chaos, evil, good, and law descriptors in their spell descriptions. Bonus Languages: A gains no bonus languages References: For some of the feature descriptions I used the wording in the Complete Divine by David Noonan on pg. 34 under Divine Crudader. As well as the SRD which can be found at the WOTC website. ----- Thank you for taking a look ^_^, i would just like to know the power balance of such a class in comparison to other Clerics, thank you :) -Lavis |
| The_Ditto09-30-04, 02:19 PM | To many, having both full BaB (ie Fighter BaB) plus full spell caster progression is bit unbalanced ... The trick, is to put it alongside each other class .. and see how it holds up .. ask yourself: "Is there anything that other class gets/can do that this one can't??" So let's compare: Fighter vs "" "" Better Saves Fighter slightly better bonus feats ... "" full caster progression ... Hmm, seems a bit swayed so far .. Cleric vs "" "" Better BaB "" Bonus Feats "" Better spells / day Cleric = Turn undead hmm, Sorcerer vs "" "" Better BaB "" Better Saves "" Bonus Feats "" Class abilities Sorcerer = Familiar ... :uh-huh: This might be a hint to tone it done slightly ... I'm thinking it's a little strong ... ask yourself if anyone would ever take a Fighter or Cleric if this class was available?? .. just my 2 cents ... :tiphat: |
| Lavis Knight09-30-04, 02:24 PM | Not sure if you read the spell progression fully because the Cleric has much better spell casting than this class. This class only gets one spell per level as the Divine Crusader does. (Depending on his domain) The Cleric as it stands gains Turning, Better spell casting, more spells per day, more spells (Alot more), Better armor proficiencies, A slightly better skill list, an extra domain power. If for example at Level 20 if a Character of this class chose the Healing domain, he could cast Mass Heal four times per day and that would be the end of his spell casting as that is all he could prepare. As it stands i believe most min maxers looking for a Divine Character would choose Cleric over this class. |

| Bartleby_GoC09-30-04, 04:11 PM | My suggestion would be to add an extra domain, either from the god's choices or for an unaligned "", any. Abilities granted could go as follows:: 1st Domain Focus, Aura 5th Bonus Feat 7th DF 10th BF 13th DF 15th BF 19th DF 20th BF Domain Focus would not increase past 19th, so no uber-epic "" with tons of foci. If this is too many Foci, go 1st, 8th, 17th, or 1st, 19th. As mentioned, this class is much less powerful than either a normal fighter or cleric. A few extra spell choices at higher levels could help. As for a name, how about: Blessed Warrior Holy Soldier Church Guard/Knight(maybe add a vow of service?)/Soldier Arm of the Church Blessed Arm Divine Arm Temple Guard/Warrior/Soldier Bartleby |
