| Dimitris681607-30-07, 12:27 PM | Hi all, I roleplay a human scout and I have a couple of questions regarding my PC's class. First of all, if a scout wears light armor does he lose his Fast movement special ability ? In complete adventurer p12 states that for reference one can look st the Monk class feature in PHB. SHouldnt it be wiser this special ability to match the barbarians fast movement ability? Second, can a scout use the rapid shot feet and make 2 skirmish shots in the same round? Moreover, can he use the manyshot feat and make multiple skirmish shots, applying the feat's penalties to his attack roll? Thats it ! |
| ArchMagik07-30-07, 12:39 PM | Alright regarding the Fast movement. The Scout can wear light armor and retain its Fast movement, but if you wear medium or heavy armor you lose it. Extra Skirmish damage is applied to all attacks in a round in which the Scout moves at least 10feet. Rapid shot requries a full round action to use, thus you can't move the required 10feet and Skirmish isn't applied. Although Manyshot is a standard action and you could move at least 10feet before using it. Manyshot states that you can apply precision-based damage only once. |

Since you have to move at least 10 feet to charge, you get the skirmish bonus. Similarly, a scout/Dervish (Complete Warrior) can be very deadly, because so long as you move 10 feet before your first attack, you can take a full attack action and still get all your skirmish dice on your attacks during a dervish dance. |
| Tolby07-30-07, 01:38 PM | In the Magic Item Compendium there are many items geared towards skirmish damage Skirmisher boots and Gloves of Agile Striking are two items you one to check out. |
| posternutbag07-30-07, 03:15 PM | Shifter Scout/ Tiger Were Touched Master gets pounce and makes for a good build. I have pushed it before and still push it on occassion, even with the nerfed erratta. |
| Dimitris681607-31-07, 09:58 AM | I was thinking of multiclassing to Initiate of the Order of the Bow, since I can stack the ranged precision extra damage with the skirmish extra damage. What do you guys think of that ? I will check the dervish presstige class! |
| Mercurius07-31-07, 01:24 PM | If archery is your thing, Order of the Bow Initiate's bonus damage (which all only applies to one shot a round, because they need to make a standard action to deal the extra damage) is a relatively good fix. The skirmish damage will stack, and the d8s that the OotBI adds are slightly better than skirmish and up the damage something awful. The BAB requirement will make it a bit harder, and the skill point hit is pretty nasty, but it's not awful if your focus is more on raw damage than skills. Dervish is good for melee scouts. I had a human Swashbuckler3/Scout1/Ftr2 who went into dervish and TWF weapon finessed Kusari-gama (DMG, light, finessable reach weapons that deal 1d6 slashing damage). She was a deadly sight, adding her INT bonus to both weapons damage, along with skirmish. A lot of fun to play. |
| Dimitris681608-06-07, 11:33 AM | Ok, here is another question for you guys! If I score a critical hit,is the skirmish damage applied once, just like the sneak attack extra damge, or is it multiplied wit the weapons critical hit multiplier. In the CAD handbook this isnt specified, in ocntrast with the ranged precision dmage of the initiate of the bow, in complete warrior, where it is clearly stated that this extar damage is similar to sneak attack extra damage. |
| Tolby08-06-07, 01:03 PM | It is applied once per hit. Very similiar to sneak attack. |
| Spikes01k08-06-07, 02:23 PM | Well in all honesty a scout is more designed as a melee type. A lot of people go to dervish and tempest PrCs. |
