Guardsman (10 levels maximum)
Not as offensively oriented as the pure Fighter, the Guardsman is far more often seen, either in the employee of noblemen or as part of city civil forces. As the Fighter represents the more accomplished soldier, the Guardsman is the more urban and people oriented warrior who often acts in the place of police in modern societies. As such they are still fully capable combatants, but have a very different focus in the types of skills they use and the way in which they interact with. Also because they are not meant to be as fully challenged as the Fighter, they are limited to ten levels in this class.
Alignment: Any.
Hit Die: d8.
Class Skills: The guardsman’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are: Gather Information (Cha), Intimidate (Cha), Know-Local (Int), Listen (Wis), Search (Int), Sense Motive (Wis), Spot (Wis)
Skill Points at 1st Level: (4 + Int modifier) ×4.
Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 4 + Int modifier.
Class Features: All of the following are class features of the guardsman.
*Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A guardsman is proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with heavy and medium armor types and with most shields (but NOT including tower shields).
**Bonus Feats: At 1st level, a guardsman gets a bonus combat-oriented feat in addition to the feat that any 1st-level character gets and the bonus feat granted to a human character. The guardsman gains an additional bonus feat at 2nd level and every two guardsman levels thereafter (4th, 6th, 8th, 10th). These bonus feats must be drawn from the feats noted as Fighter bonus feats, which they parallel. A guardsman must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums. These bonus feats are in addition to the feat that a character of any class gets from advancing levels. A guardsman is not limited to the list of Fighter bonus feats when choosing these other feats.

The Guardsman Class uses the same advancement table as the Fighter Class, but is limited to 10 levels.

PEACH?

Is there any reason this should imbalance a standard game that any of you can see?

I like it, although I wouldn't limit it to 10th level and I would change the bonus feat progression (say one at first level and every four after), thus making it more of an NPC class and a poor choice for players. I really like the class list (makes so much more sense) although I might keep ride as class skill.
