This is my rough idea behind a druid variant that has no spells. First, the druid gains draconic (make them based on elements instead of dragons) auras as if he were a dragon shaman of his druid level. This is to represent the druids ability to control the forces of nature to only a minor extent. This druids real power lies in its ability to assume alternate forms. This druid gains the shapeshit ability from the PHB2, replacing the druids normal wild shape, but the druid still recieves an animal companion. Instead of the forms presented in the PHB2 the Druid gains a cat form and a bear form at first level. At 7th level you gain the flying form as presented in the PHB2. You only gain the benefits presented here when you are shifted into one of these forms.

While in cat form the druid turns into a medium sized catlike creature. The druid gains these benefits while in this form:

+2 bonus to Stregth and Dexterity
+2 Natural Armor
Primary Bite Attack: 1d6 damage
2 Secondary Claw Attacks: 1d4 damage
Base Speed becomes 50 ft.
Gains a climb speed of 20 ft.
+8 racial bonus to jump, balance, and climb
+2 racial bonus to hide and move silently
low light vision
Improved Grab
Pounce at 5th level
Rake at 3rd level
Skirmish as a scout of your druid level
An additional +2 bonus to strength, dexterity, hide and move silently for every four druid levels you posess

While in Bear form the druid turns into a medium sized bear like creature. While in this form the druid gains these benefits:

+4 bonus to Strength and Constitution
+4 natural Armor
2 primary claw attacks: 1d4 damage
A secondary bite attack: 1d6 damage
Base Speed becomes 40 ft.
+4 racial bonus to swim skill
Low Light Vision
Improved Grab at 5th level
Rage as a barbarian of your druid level (PHB2 variant)
At fifth level, while in bear form your size increases. Your stats do not change, but your natural attack damage increases and you may gain reach.
Your Strength and Natural Armor increase by 2 for every 4 druid levels you posess.

Special: A druid with this variant may take feats such as multi-attack and improved natural attack but they only apply while the druid is in his animal forms. A druid of this variant may also take the scent feat.

Wait nevermind my last comment, but you should definetly put what level they get it at.

If that's all at level one, why would anyone take level two?

the more druid levels you have the better you get as a number of those abilities scale with your level.

But how do they scale, that's what's not clear.

I see where some stuff gets picked up by 5th level, and the auras and the like, but it still seems a level or two dip for the stat bonuses and an aura, then go into war blade for a while, then on to warshaper.

IOW, I don't see what makes it worth more than a level or five.

Why just a cat and bear form? no birds/hawks/fish/shark/mole/boa?

kinda lame.

Also the auras seem a little off for an ability to a druid class.

The two forms are right now just a rough idea, it could easily be thought of as a predator and a slayer form. Im also thinking of adding an aquatic and a flight form, but both would be much less combat effective. The reason this class wouldn't be a good dip is that you can't wear armor or weild weapons while in these forms, so you would not get much of a combat boost just taking a single level. The auras are a way to give the druid magic like powers without giving them spells. (I'm thinking of running a campaign with no actual spell casters)

A rogue would be amazing to grab a 1 level dip. Bam im a cat cant find me now and if you do, so what im a cat.

instead of auras give them a list of spell like abilities to choose from. From the rangers spell list. Things like entangle, and utility spells. But make them useable x/day or encounter.
