Thunder Dragonbane 11-27-06, 07:46 AM	Healing, & good. Heeling, & war. Healing, & law. If you want to be really good a healing you should always take healing and all three of the others seem to do rather well.
ShubNiggurath 11-27-06, 08:06 AM	I beg to differ. Choose 2 among war, time, travel, luck. Try to get travel. As feats, get extend spell, persistant spell, divine metamagic:persitent spell. Also get all the extra turning you can. Use a gold dwarf (-2 dex instead of cha, MM) and get an high-ish cha, even at the expense of str. Btw, the best dwarf cleric is an human one. A short human one.
Garonak 11-28-06, 05:22 AM	1. Gold dwarf isn't in the MM, it's in one of the Faerun books. Think it's Player's Guide 2. Maybe you should select a deity and see what domains that deity has... War is pretty good for melee, strength (for the domain spells) isn't that bad either.

Heh... yeah, first off check the Races of Stone book for the substitution levels, and skip the first one for sure. Consider dipping into fighter for the martial profiencies, the feat, and the HD. The Sub level for that first level is really nice aswell. Gold Dwarf does indeed make a better cleric, and it comes from the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. -2dex, +2con, and a change in the racial attack bonuses is the major changes. Other than that realise that you are indeed slower that most of the party.. so stay close to your "charges". Other than that... Augment healing can be nice, weapon focus is always good if you didnt get the War Domain. The healing domain *and thus a god who gives it* should be considered a must for the archetype you seem to be looking for. Grab a light crossbow, just in case, and the best weapon and armor you can find. Light shields. You might be tempted to get a heavy shield... but you need a hand ready for touch spells and somatic components.
