Alright, one of the people in my game is playing a Monk, and they really don't want the Empty Body ability. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to replace that with?

Also, as a side note, I wanted to change how Abundant Step worked. I don't want it to just be Dimension Door 1/day. I'd much rather it be a pool of feet, maybe 10/monk level each day.

I really need some insight here, both me and my player are groaning over this, and I'm completely at a loss at what to do.

A simple option is to replace it with another ability that mimics a 7th level spell (or close to that) that only affects the monk. Something appropriately "monky", however you determine that in your game. Mislead, Shadow Walk, Tenser's Transformation, True Sight, Brilliant Blade, Elemental Body, Emerald Flame Fist, Energy Immunity, Chasing Perfection, Energy Absorption, Karmic Retribution, or Prismatic Aura might make OK options. Each one will probably take a bit of tweaking to fit neatly into the class, but it shouldn't be too hard.

Well, one way you can do it is just go shadowdancer after monk 11 :P although the PrC could definitely use some buffing. Really, I think monk PrCs will allow you a lot more freedom. Tattooed monk (ideally from the Dragon 318 update, since unlike CWar it gives you flurry progression) is a bit like a "modular" monk, allowing you to cherry-pick among a list of abilities. Hybrid monk/casters like the Enlightened Fist, Sacred Fist or Fist of Zuoken can get you dimension door and more, if you don't mind going that way.

More than likely, I'm going to replace Empty Body with this:

Ki Focus(Su): As a swift action, the Monk may enter a state of near bodily and spiritual perfection. She gains a +4 bonus to her Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, and Wisdom scores, a +2 bonus to Armor Class, and her Base Attack Bonus is equal to her Monk level, which may grant her extra attacks. This effect is usable once per day, and lasts 3+Wisdom modifier rounds.
At twentieth level, when the Monk attains Perfect Self, the bonuses from Ki Focus increase to +6 to her Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, and Wisdom, and a +4 insight bonus to her Armor class.

It should be noted that I gave Monks a +2 to all of their ability scores as a part of Perfect Self. I think that it actually helped make Perfect Self worth it.

About Abundant Step, I'm thinking that once per day per two Monk levels, the Monk may move up to double her base speed as a move action. However, this is a teleportation effect, so they don't provoke AoOs or any of that nonsense.

Are these abilities strong? Yeah. The first ability was based off Tenser's Transformation, but with a bit more bonuses to actually make Monk 20 worth it. Perfect Self, well, it wasn't really that great to begin with. My new Abundant Step I'm thinking might be only equal to their base speed, since twice that is huge because of their monk bonus to speed.
