Yes I know putting some new fighter feats should go on the feats board, and I did post it there, but there is a lot more traffic on this board, and I originally decided to come up with these feats because I felt the fighter would benefit at higher levels with some new Fighter Only feats.

Here is a couple of feats I have come up with just looking for a few opinions on them with constructive criticism. Please bear with me its kinda long.

Optional Training
Not all fighters are big dumb brutes. Many are just as talented as anyone else in the arts of subterfuge, hiding, or even diplomacy. This feat allows you to customize your fighter with skills that round out their personal training outside of combat.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 1
Benefit: Choose 2 skills from the following list to become class skills.
Balance, Bluff, Diplomacy, Disguise, Escape Artist, Gather Information, Heal, Hide, Knowledge(any), Listen, Move Silently, Perform, Search, Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, Speak Language, Spot, Survival, Tumble, Use Rope
Normal: these skills are considered cross-class skills.
Special: this feat can be taken any number of times, each time gaining two new skills as class skills. It can also be taken as a fighter bonus feat.
(if any of these skills are fighter class skills sorry, but I don't have my 3.5ed PHB with me right now, I'll change it later if so)

(these next couple are to address the low saves a fighter has against some of the dangers that come with combat situations that I feel they would normally be able to at least train to overcome)

Combat Will
Fighters are purely combat oriented, and when focused on this task they can be very hard to influece mentally. Their ability to even ignore some magic because of this focus is legendary.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 6, Iron Will
Benefit: the fighter may sacrifice a number of attacks in a round to gain a bonus of +2 to their will saves for each attack lost until their next turn (max +6). Only the attacks gained from the fighter's level can be sacrificed (extra attacks such as two-weapon fighting attacks, rapid fire attacks, and even attacks gained from magic such as haste and the speed weapon special ability cannot be sacrificed for this feat).
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

Combat Agility
Combat isn't all just swinging a sword and doing as much damage as possible. Combat also includes being able to lessen the amount of damage you take with dodges and quick movements. A fighter can master these quick movements but at the expence of focusing on it instead of fully attacking the foe.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 6, Lightning Reflexes
Benefit: the fighter may sacrifice a number of attacks in a round to gain a bonus of +2 to their reflex saves for each attack lost until their next turn (max +6).

Combat Master
Being masters of combat, a fighter can eventually fully focus themselves against physical and mental attacks at the same time.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 14, Iron Will (feat), Lightning Reflexes (feat), Combat Will (feat), Combat Agility (feat)
Benefit: If a fighter sacrifices an attack for either Combat Will or Combat Agility feats it is also considered to be sacrificed for the other as well. Only the attacks gained from the fighter's level can be sacrificed (extra attacks such as two-weapon fighting attacks, rapid fire attacks, and even attacks gained from magic such as haste and the speed weapon special ability cannot be sacrificed for this feat).
Normal: Normally the Combat Will and Combat Agility feats cannot use the same sacrificed attack to increase the corresponding save.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

Diversity
Fighters are masters of martial combat. And, as such they tend to learn skills and techniques that can be used with a few different weapons even if the weapons are nothing alike.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 12, Proficient with weapons chosen
Benefit: Apply all bonuses from the Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, and Improved Critical trees to an additional weapon for every point of Intelligence bonus you have.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

(I don't know if the explaination of this feat is good enough, it is supposed to mean there has to be at least 4 opponents around them to cause 2 different flanking directions, any suggestions on the wording for this feat would be appreciated)

Combat Sense
A fighter that has fought in many battles learns how to defend himself even against multiple foes. Because of this they are much harder to flank, though not impossible.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 8, Wis 13
Benefit: the fighter is not considered flanked unless they are flanked from two different directions. A rogue of 4+ lvls higher than the fighter can still sneak attack the fighter as if they are considered flanked as normal, but they do not gain the +2 to hit unless they are actually flanked from two directions.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

(this next feat is for those higher level games when you tend to fight single opponents like dragons, uber demons, and such)

Focused Attack
When a fighter only has one foe to worry about they can focus all their energy and skill into getting past that foes defences as well as dealing much more grievous wounds.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 16
Benefit: whenever a fighter has only one opponent within 30ft they gain a bonus of +1 to attack and damage per/4 levels. These bonuses stack with all other feats that increase attack and damage.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

(these next few are to make a fighter with a shield worth while again because it seems to me that shields become worthless at higher levels though this could be just me)

Shielded
Fighters can use shields to lessen damage from area attacks as well as against the run of the mill opponents weapons.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 4
Benefit: as long as a fighter is using a heavy or tower shield they are considered to have the evasion ability (see the Rogue description in the PHB). If a fighter uses the evasion ability they lose the AC bonus from that shield until their next turn. If a magical shield is used add the enhancement bonus of that shield as a bonus to the reflex saves.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

Shielded Alot
With training a fighter becomes able to shield themselves from area attacks with much better effectiveness.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 8, Shielded (feat)
Benefit: as long as a fighter is using a heavy or tower shield they are considered to have the improved evasion ability (see the Rogue description in the PHB). If a fighter uses the improved evaison ability they lose the AC bonus from that shield until their next turn. If a magical shield is used add the enhancement bonus of that shield as a bonus to the reflex saves.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

Shield Deflection
Using a shield a fighter can deflect area attacks back at their users by angleing the shield the right way or even by batting at it.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 12, Shielded (feat), Shielded Alot (feat)
Benefit: any time a fighter successfully saves against an area of affect spell or ability using their Shielded Alot feat the area of affect is deflected back upon the original user of that ability (regardless of the original range).
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

Shield Master
A skilled master of the shield can deflect area of affect abilities without loosing the benifit of the shield against normal attacks.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 16, Shielded (feat), Shielded Alot (feat), Shield Deflection (feat)
Benifit: a fighter does not lose their shield bonus to their ac when using the Shielded Alot feat.
Normal: normally the shield's ac bonus is lost when the Shielded Alot feat is used.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

Great Shield
Shields usually are not very effective against touch attacks but with training a fighter can bat the opponent's hands away so they cannot make the touch.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 8
Benefit: a fighter may apply their entire shield bonus against touch attacks. The fighter must be aware of the attack.
Normal: normally shield bonuses do not affect touch attacks.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

Greater Shield
Using a shield a fighter has learned how to even bat away ranged touch attacks as if they were melee touch attacks.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 12, Great Shield (feat)
Benefit: a fighter may apply their entire shield bonus against ranged touch attacks. The fighter must be aware of the attack.
Normal: normally shield bonuses do not affect ranged touch attacks.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

Greater Shield Deflection
A master with a shield, the fighter has trained until they can even deflect a ranged touch attack back at the original attacker.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 16, Great Shield (feat), Greater Shield (feat)
Benefit: any time a ranged touch attack fails against the fighter the user of the ranged touch attack must make another touch attack against their own touch ac (regardless of the original range of the attack), and if they hit themselves they are affected as if the original target of the touch attack. The fighter must be aware of the attack.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

(this next one is self explanitory)

Shrug Off Effect
A fighter's focus is so great that they can shrug off effects that most normal people cannot.
Prerequisites: Fighter Lvl 6 or base Will save +6
Benefit: any time you are affected by an enchantment(compulsion) you may make a Will save every round until the effects duration expires or a successful save is made. This feat even works against enchantments that do not allow saves.
Special: this feat can be taken as a fighter bonus feat.

here's what I thought of each, in just a few words and with no justification (cmon... there are a -lot- of them):

Optional Training: Sure why not.

Combat Will/Agility/Master: Hmm... better clarify that this can only be used in a full round action (so you don't get the benefit when charging). Otherwise... okay. I'd rather stomp the spellcaster with all my attacks.

Diversity: Fair enough. I like it.

Combat Sense: noooo... too powerful, I think. All those poor rogues, trying to sneak attack this guy. At the most, I would suggest that this feat doesn't give the opponents the +2 to attack (but still qualifies them as flanking for Sneak Attacks).

Focussed Attack: hmm... that's plus four to hit and damage by the time you can take it, and it's not hard to single out an opponent ten feet away from his pals. Blows the Focus and Specialization trees away with just one feat. I'd say no good. Well... too good, so no good.

Shielded/Imp: I'd change it to Tower-Shields only, for realism and balance.

Shielded Deflection: Not sure... will it reflect Horrid Wilting? Ack... that could hurt.

Great Shield: I think I like it. Full plate fighters tend to get screwed with their 11 touch AC.

Shrug off Affect: nonononono... Rogues have to wait until level 10 to get Slippery Mind, and that only allows 1 retry in the next round. I'd change it to that.

Overall, a lot of these feats would be perfectly balanced if Fighters weren't able to take so many of them. For a Cleric, say, to give up a feat slot to take Shielded, it's a fair trade. But... when the fighter has so many it's an easy grab. I'd raise the level requirements on a lot of these, because that's when the Fighter runs out of steam (and for my level 19 feat I'll take... uhm... mobility... I guess...).

stabs:

(combat will/agility/master) what would be the point of using this ability when charging since you only get one attack when you charge anyways? which would be sacrificed to use this feat. though if there are any feats that allow full attacks then I guess they would get the benifit again at the sacrifice of those attacks. If you have 3 attacks at level 12 you can still only sacrific 3 attacks and that would leave you with 0 attacks on that charge....and if you sacrificed 2 then youd be down to the normal 1 attack in that round. but I do see the problem this posses, people with the pounce ability would get much more benifit than someone without. so I'll probably change it.

(combat sense) how about if I made it so a rogue of 4+ levels higher than the fighter would be able to flank them, since this is pretty much like greater uncanny dodge (or improved can't remember) except that the fighter can still be flanked it just takes more people)

(focused attack) I agree, to an extent, I designed this feat because it seems at higher levels (prerequisite Lvl 16 fighter) most fights tent towards fighting one big baddie like dragons and demons and such, but I can see your point, what about increasing the area to maybe 30 or 60 ft. what ya think?

(shielded/imp) I was originally going to make this just tower shields but then decided to allow hvy shields because it seems a bit tough for me to believe someone batting at attacks with a tower shield. I mean I guess it would be possible but then again tower shields can already be used for total cover, and this was created to allow someone with the hvy shield (and tower shield if that is the route you want) some defence against breathweapons and aoe spells and abilities.

(deflection) don't have my PHB with me right now so not sure if Horrid Wilting would be affected or not with the Shield Defelection feat or not, but if it is an area of affect that allows a reflex save for evasion then I guess it would. Then again if it is a ranged touch attack then you would have to deflect it with the Greater Shield Deflection feat.

(shrug off affect) I agree this is kinda overpowered, but then again so is making a fighter sit there for an entire battle doing nothing, this feat is supposed to represent the idea that a fighter can recover from mind effects faster than the norm because of his mental focus in those types of situations. And spells like charm person and dominate still work on them and they still have to use their crappy Will saves, and even with the Combat Will feat which would only be in affect the first round (if activated) those bonuses would be lost when he fails the initial save so subsequent saves will be hard pressed to save anyways. So the chances that a fighter will succeed on this will saves are slim, as we all know some spell dcs can get pretty high and the lowly fighter would need an incredible roll to succeed.

But those are how I see them, and thanks for the response, I'd like to hear what you have to say about my reasoning behind the feats and suggestions.

and I think I'm going to change the Combat Sense to 30' since that does make much more sense.

well... alright... I don't usually play such high levels so I don't know how much help I'll be.

Combat Will: I meant you should clarify that to Sacrifice your attacks means you have to actually have some. Like.... no fair to do something like Full Defense or Drink a potion or something and consider that "Sacrificing Attacks." But yeah, otherwise fine.

Combat Sense: Might as well just give them Uncanny Dodge then. Or how about a different feat to deal with Flankers? If you fight defensively and they miss, they stab their friend on the other side >_>

Focused Attack: I don't know, this one's hard to balance. Maybe if you were the only two creatures in combat... Mayhaps someone else will have a better idea than me.

shielded/imp: hmm... to have it always on steals too much from the rogue. Besides, Reflex saves are usually damaged based, and not nearly as crippling for a fighter as a Dominate or something. But then you still want to balance out Shield Users with TWF/THW. Don't know... how about... You can choose to get the Evasion as a free action in your turn, but to represent holding the Shield over your head (or however you might do it with a heavy shield) you take a -2 to attack rolls in that turn. ... >_> shh! >_> Orr... just give them the +2 to reflex saves you'd get from cover, and no penalty.

Deflection: Ah why not, they took enough feats to get it.

Shrug Off; Ah, personally I've never liked how absolute a lot of the spells are (as in Save: Nothing!, Fail... death...). They should be more incremental in their success, but that's the system. Again, I still wouldn't make it anymore powerful than Slippery Mind, and it shouldn't be selectable until level Ten.

I agree but if Combat Will thing doesn't stack with other thing than your giving up the fighters main way in battle. Love Shildied though its more realistic but it should be like a strenghth save from holding the attack back with your shield
