| Kingpoehlman10-13-03, 12:31 AM | i just was wondering wat you people would do if you made a 7 level githzerai monk. I was thinking of making one. Well the stats i have are 18 16 14 15 13 12. and could be put into any stat. Plus i can deduct two points from one stat and add one to another. No stat can go above 18 and none can become lower than 10. After you do this then you add the stat bonuses from templates. |
| Black Kitten10-13-03, 04:48 AM | I'd say to do the most obvious here to my eyes. I just presume that these stats are basic rolled stats. Str 15 Dex 16 (==>22) Con 14 Int 14 (==>12) Wis 18 (==>20) Cha 10 (-2 for +1 con) You might wonder why I have given him 14 int. This is because Githzerai get -2 on int and don't speak common automatically. Instead of investing skillpoints in it, this would be my solution. I think you might as well have a killer monk on your hands here then (think of a base AC of 25). |
| Kingpoehlman10-13-03, 08:01 PM | Yeah that was obvious. But i was also wondering the types of builds you would use for that character. Like what feats you would get. Also magical shiruken do not get destroyed when thrown. |
| Black Kitten10-14-03, 05:25 PM | Well, if you want to add weapons... Daggers. One or two Magical for melee and A sling for very long range, but the average monk player will do what is the best part of a monk: DON"T use weapons ;) Just run in and blow heads. Run would be a feat to use. Sunder might be an idea... but I don't really know |
| The_Mighty_Quinn10-14-03, 06:40 PM | Sunder is a good choice. Look up 'Circle Kick' from Sword and Fist, it can add a lot of attacks if used properly. ANY monk should look at the Spring Attack tree...Flurry good, Whirlwind better. Run is definitely a solid feat, especially since often the monk's job is to penetrate enemy lines to get to those pesky (but pleasantly soft) spellcasters. With stats like that, you might want to consider a level of Cleric. Shield Proficincy is great as soon as you look at what you can enchant a buckler shield to do (Fortification Anyone?). Plus the ablity to heal yourself can be a real life saver...espeically for a d8 fighter type. Monk's deepest desire...returning, vorpal shuriken. Think about it! |
| Black Kitten10-14-03, 07:30 PM | Ehm... No, a monk doesn't want to be a cleric, cos she can head herself. Not as good as most, but she can. And needs her levels badly. Moreover, I wouldn't opt for those shuriken, but for the 3.0 3-shuriken rule. Poison each one... I saw players go down big time with that trick ;) |
| Colin10-14-03, 08:28 PM | Circle Kick requires a full round attack to use. It's not good. |
| Thelon Fairblade10-15-03, 08:58 AM | One level of psion or psychic warrior, perhaps, for Inertial Armor feat and another 4 AC? |
| Black Kitten10-15-03, 09:44 AM | Let me re-phrase: The Monk strifes for perfection. If you take ONE other level, your perfection is scr*w*d. Get the point? |
| Neonsamurai10-15-03, 10:56 AM | 18 16 14 15 13 12 Githzerai (LA+2) STR 18 --> 18 DEX 16 --> 22 CON 13 --> 13 INT 14 --> 12 WIS 15 --> 17 CHA 12 --> 10 Increase CON at 4th and WIS at 8th level. Afterwards you can increase as you see fit, i would recommend WIS. If you need combat expertise i suggest swapping INT an CON. If you need builds i suggest you lookup mean liar's monk min/max creation guide (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48573) or my website, the min/max vault (http://minmax.neonsamurai.de) |
