Hi guys, im thinking about making a halfling barb just to do something fun. Any tips on how to make the most out of this char? or possilby even a skill tree to work on. I thought about maybe going toward the frenzied zerker but seems alot of people are doing this on their zerkers. Any ideas for prestige classes? thx in advance.

You could try the Dervish Class. Though your Halfling will quickly gain the nickname "Chainsaw".

Heh, halfling barbarians are becoming popular ever since Belkar decided to take levels in the class (http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript?SK=132)...

Im assuming that dervish dance and rage can both be actived at the same time. am i correct with this assumption?

i believe so.

i used to run a Halfling barbarian, who was an unarmed grappler. after about 10th level and one good monty haul random treasure, he was punching for 1d2+10 damage or so, which isnt small potatos. he was pretty hardcore. he eventually took up the greatsword too, but only because we found a magical small greatsword.

"A dervish cannot perform a dervish dance while under the effects of a rage or frenzy ability" -Complete Warrior

On another note, what about bear warrior for a halfling barbarian?

Dervish dane and Barb rage can't be activated at the same time. You could go for Forsaker

which book is the forsaker in?

If you really wanted something unusual for a Barbarian, grab Complete Devine and take a look at the Divine Crusader, Holy Liberator, and Pious Templar prestige classes, depending on what flavor you're looking for for your character.

If i choose holy liberator and get to the level where i can remove fatigue. Can i use that on myself to remove the fatigue for the rage? or is it limited to creatures i can touch?

Forsaker is in THe MAster of the Wilds a 3.0 book but since they never updated(atleast to my knowledge) it still functions. Well you do have to update their DR ability

Not to sound gross about it, but just like using Lay On Hands, you can touch yourself and remove your own fatigue.

Well, I'm no rules lawyer, but I'd say that if you could touch yourself you could use your remove fatigue ability on yourself.

I Made a Halfling Barbarian/Bard she was pretty sweet. cast a few buffs sing a song then freek out with my sling pegging orcs between the eyes. good fun. :) as far as feats whent i took stuff like lingering song and extended rage wepon focus sling. im not saying it was the stongest build i ever made but she was just super cool.

head over to the eberron boards. The Talenta halflings have barbarian as their favored class, so they have probably come up with more stuff

Barbarian5(Bear Totem from UA)/Fighter2/Bear Warrior5/Warshaper4/whatever else you want....

So this guy would be a nasty dude. He is a grappling halfling who has overcome his physical weaknesses by mastering turning into a bear. The bear totem barb from UA gives lots of nice benefits. You will want to have combat reflexes and instantaneous rage by around 15th level so you can create AoOs by growing larger and gaining reach. When you are not in bear form, simply use a 2-handed weapon and shock trooper. You should have a few open feat slots, grapplers aren't feat intensive. You also have 4 free levels at the end of the build to do what you want with. Psychic Warrior would give you some great versatility.

Not quite true: their favoured class is still rogue, they just tend to be more stealthy jungle hunters than thieves. Their culture is a lot more barbarian and savagethough, and barbarian is a much more common class amongst Talentans than regular D&D halflings.

Monkey Grip is a pretty decent feat for Small warriors IMO. Combined with the Small +1 size bonus on attack rolls, you take a meager -1 on attack rolls while increasing damage output by one size increment.

Splashing levels of Rogue or Scout to add d6's to your attack rolls could help this out as well.

I actually got a HAlfling Barb/fighter/rogue/frenzied berserker **Wouldnt reccomend the rogue** but I can kick major Arse, With np, Tho my guy does use a great sword and he DOES! Think everything is laughing at him so he goes berserk, :P, Recently I just took out around 5-8 Drow in 1 round of attacks, but I was using cleave, greater cleave, and Thanks to Zerker, Supreme cleave to boot :)

If done right a halfling zerker can be your worst night mare come to life, This lil HAlfling dude, who thinks every inanimate object is laughing at him goes crazy and attacks doors, Trapped doors at that, my character right now is the new Trap detector in the litteral sense, and the parties trap springer to boot, but what sucks is our DM sucks at DMing and hates to kill players even reckless ones like mine, :), But of course I always am reckless with my characters lol, so maybe ill stick to fighters and such instead of trying to go and do stupid stuff with a mage :D

Thrikreen Zerker BUHAHAHAHAHA :D

Not quite true either: They're dinosaur-riding plains warriors.

Also, there was a recent issue of Dragon with a Variant Barbarian in it, which obtained Damage Reduction and a Dex bonus while raging. That was suggested as a good build for a mounted halfling.

TAKE GIANT BANE FEAT!!! (complete warrior) nothing quite as scary as a raging halfling on your butt.

P.S. sorry if the feat name is wrong.

Id have to say, if your going as a Barbarian, go for Barbarian, Bard, Warchanter, I had one about two months back, he was based on a Gaelic Drinker, named him Tom Finnigan

unfortunately i never got to play my halfling barb past level 4. i was planning to take 3 levels of rogue. nice reflex save, evasion, 24 skill points from an awesome list and 2d6 sneak attack when flanking. you lose 1 bab, 3 levels of d6, and you have to use light armor.

i like rogues though, and i liked the idea of playing up the halfling's natural sneakiness. not the most optimized was to go, but it sounded fun.

Let's hear it for non-optimized fun builds!

It's actually a great idea, as you get some extra speed to offset your slow halfling movement rate, and your halfling bonuses counterbalance the barbarian's AC penalty from raging. It's less of a one-trick pony than the regular damage-oriented barbarian, but can be quite viable in addition to amusing. I'd multiclass in a few levels of something... rogue or ranger come to mind.

I had a gnome Barbarian prepped for a game that might work slightly less well as a halfling. He was an Ape Totem Barbarian with Titan Fighting and Giantbane who climbs on to the backs of his enemies and chops them to bits with his axe. ;) The Ape Totem gives you a climb speed, which makes your climb check nice and obscene. Add in Close Quarters Combat to make you even more impossible to dislodge.
