If you didn't think it was worth posting in the initial post, why do you think we will?!

Er, you mean like a monk trained to use swords, spears, and such? Is this a class varient you've come up with?

I'm interested in hearing more; monks are cool. :)

You didn't have to ask. You could have just posted it. Anyone who didn't care to hear more wouldn't have been bothered, because they wouldn't have clicked your thread. People who did do care to hear more wouldn't have had to wait.

And bog standard monks, straight out of the Player's Handbook, are fine at wielding weapons. In fact, the kinds of weapons they should have
(according to the Dungeon Master's Guide) will always be more effective than their fists.

There are also many feats which help monks wield weapons not usually associated with their class, such as long-swords and spears.

Last but not least, in the Tome Of Battle there is a class called the Swordsage. It is very much like a monk, but is equally good at wielding any melee weapon (including fists), and has a wide variety of customizable fighting styles.
