A monks flurry, What is it really? [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-20-06, 12:52 AM Is a Monk's "Flurry of Blows" Considered a "Full attack action" or is it a special ability that the monk can do? I read it, but I either missed it, or it is nonexistant. I understand some DM's would rule it one way or another, but I want to find the general consensus of the boards.

10-20-06, 01:01 AM It's part of a full attack action, just like TWFing and extra attacks from the Haste spell. (All of those stack, by the way)

Wait...Does that mean if your a monk, with TWF you flurry, and get your off hand attacks? Or did I just misunderstand you?

10-20-06, 01:09 AM Yeah, you can flurry and TWF at the same time. Check the FAQ.

Virtually any ability that grants you extra attacks requires the full attack action to use; flurry, TWF, Whirlwind Attack, Rapid Shot, etc. Abilities that let you make more than one attack as a standard action are fairly rare and very explicit.

10-20-06, 01:10 AM Yes, a Monk can Flurry of Blows and Two-Weapon Fight at the same time.

The designated off-hand still takes the normal penalties for being an off-hand attack.

If you gain any kind of multiple attacks, whether it's BAB, two-weapon fighting (with or without the feat tree), rapid shot, natural weapons (plural), etc., by default they are considered full attack actions.
