Weapon and Armor Proficiency: An adventurers proficient with all simple weapons, plus the longsword, rapier, sap, short sword, shortbow, and whip. Adventurers are proficient with light armor and shields (except tower shields). A Adventurer can cast spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. However, like any other arcane spellcaster, a Adventurer wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component (most do). A multiclass Adventurer still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes. Spells: an adventurer learns the same kind of spells as a Wizard, up to 6th level. To learn or cast a spell, an adventurer must have an Intelligence score equal to at least 10 + the spell level (Int 10 for 0 level spells, Int 16 for 6th level spells). The Difficulty Class for a savings throw against an adventurers spell is 10 + the spell level + the Intelligence modifier. Like all other spell casters, an adventurer can cast only a certain number of spells per day (less than a Wizard), and receives bonus spells based on a high Intelligence score. Like a Wizard, the Adventurer must prepare and memorize their spells beforehand. They are limited only by the number of spells they carry in their spellbook. Spell limitations: Though they can learn the same kinds of spells, adventurers do not have the time or focus to learn ALL kinds of wizard spells. Thus, they are limited to four of the eight schools (or spheres) of Wizardry. The Adventurer, however, gets to choose which schools to learn from. This is reflective of their individual nature, and how they usually chose their own course of instruction rather than being taught by a single master. These schools are fixed from the onset and do not change. Adventurers may use scrolls from ANY school, not just the ones they are trained with. The starting spellbook of a adventurer consist of only 4 0-level cantrips, chosen from the Sorcerer/Wizard Spells section from among their chosen schools. All others must be acquired the same way as a Wizard. Ancient Knowledge: An adventurer may make a special Ancient knowledge check with a bonus equal to his level + his Intelligence modifier to see whether he knows some relevant information about local notable people, legendary items, or noteworthy places. (If the adventurer has 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (history), he gains a +2 bonus on this check.) A successful ancient knowledge check will not reveal the powers of a magic item but may give a hint as to its general function. An adventurer may not take 10 or take 20 on this check; this sort of knowledge is essentially random. DC Type of Knowledge 10 Common, known by at least a substantial minority drinking; common legends of the local population. 20 Uncommon but available, known by only a few people legends. 25 Obscure, known by few, hard to come by. 30 Extremely obscure, known by very few, possibly forgotten by most who once knew it, possibly known only by those who dont understand the significance of the knowledge. Emulate Skill: At 3rd Level the adventurer gains the use any skill untrained even those skill that can normally only be used if at least one rank is present. Skills that are not class skill must still be bought on a two for one basis. This reflects the adventurers ability to pick up a little bit of everything throughout his travels. |
| william_reinmar11-17-04, 10:49 AM | okay, my opinion, he gets spells bonus feats, lots of skill points(with a huge list to choose from) and good saving throws, plus the light armor doesent interfer with spells. does way to many things. now i understand that is the essence of the class but he cant be that good at doing those things. As to toning this guy down ive never made my own class before so i cant help you. sorry. anyway my 2 coppers  but good luck i was hoping someone would do somthing along the lines of this guy. you get a :tiphat: for effort. |
| BluSpecs11-17-04, 11:16 AM | Thanks William, I started with a bard and removed the musical abilitys. I also took the "Learned Bard" ideas for spell casting that someone posted several months ago. I think it looks pretty balenced but I'm biased of course! :D |
