| Mr Kelvin06-14-05, 10:14 AM | I've begun thinking about a new class that could be available. It would get many of the features normal classes (BAB, Skill points, class abilities), but get them later. It might start out with 1/2 BAB, then after several levels change to 3/4 BAB, then to Full later still. As would the skill pionts, starting with say 4+int, then 6+int, and finally 8+int. Hit die might change, from d6, to d8, then d10 or d12. He would gain spells from all the lists, but not as many, and it would have a spell casting stat (possibly int?). It's just a rough idea, and I want some of your input before I take it to my DM. Any suggestions? |

It's just a rough idea, and I want some of your input before I take it to my DM. Any suggestions? I don't mean to sound like an A.. but this isn't a good idea. One of my PCs designed a Vampire Hunter class that did this, it was a bit... on the strong side, and made game play very confusing. Stick to one BaB, HD, and Skill type. If you are doing a spellcaster stick to either a d4 or d6, don't go much higher if it is arcane. If it is divine spellcaster I might allow a d8. As for BAB, no arcane spellcaster I can think of gets 3/4 BAB, divine does but not arcane. I would not allow any spellcaster to get full attack bonus. As for skills, if you are doing arcane don't go above 4+int, divine you could probably get a 6+int, but don't try for anything higher. As for the casting stat, don't make it same as a wizard or sorc, I would go for wisdom. Why do I say that? Because a wizard already has Int, Sorc Cha, Psion Int, Bard Cha, Cleric Wis... (yes I left out pali and rang) give this new spellcaster Wis. If you are going to give the spellcaster arcane spell failure I would got with this... 1/2 BAB, Good Will, 4+int, Wis casting stat... a spell list of combined divine + arcane, BUT must prepare spells. Possibly give in class abilities later in levels a way to cast some spells/day without preparation. just my 2c |
