And yes, I am serious, and I want it balanced.
Any ideas?

The Allergic

“Achu!!” sneezed Yvgeny, and looked very worried. The man, somewhat aging (about 40 years old, it seemed to the group that hired him) turned out to be rather a disappointment.
Oh, at the bar they said he was “a fine adventurer”, and “wait till you see him in battle”, and “His the best guide to these forests!” and “you should see him fight!”, but, when they set out and all Yvgeny took was a backpack, a sack (filled with hanckerchiefs, they will discover soon), a sword that saw better days (worse days would require it to go to the Abyss for a while), a shirt of mail… and what seemed like three complete and fully stacked phamacies, “for my allergies”.

“What is it?” asked Alexei, the groups Holy Knight, who was doing his utter best to be nice to the wimp.
“I’m sorry, it’s just that I’m allergic to green dragons…” mumbled Yvgeny, staring at his feet glumly, and took a hanckechif from his sack. He then blew his nose solemnly.
“Oh, fine then.” said Uther, and continued walking.
Behind him, the party’s wizard, Svatislav, asked “Green dragons?!”.
“Yes” answered the depressed Yvgeny. “There is one of them, about a three hundred ft away.” He sneezed again, blew his nose with caution, and corrected himself: “Two-hundred and thirty five feet.”

The group stared at him in awe, then shock, and then Alexei started laughing.
Svatislav, however, activated a flying dweomer and was about 30 feet high when the dragon poked it’s head through the underbush and exhaled a cone of greenish gas at the group. At this very same instant, Yvgeny sneezed so hard it rocked him off his feet and, fortunatly, out of the cone.

Some people have allergies. In a world where magic is rampant, and the gods sense of humor is not always what one might call normal, Allergics can be found.

Due to their near-constant state of health problems, all Allergics know a lot about healing, herbalism, and the art of getting hanckechifs ANYWHERE (big leafs are a blessing, you know).

They also learn about things they are allergic to (mostly anything, in some cases), and, if the dwell enough on their gloomy situation, they might see their condition worsening as their body’s immunal system picks up more and more allergies…
However, they also learn to use these allergies for their own good.

Allergics come from all classes- be them Rogues (though rarely thiefs, assasins, or pick-pockets, for obvious reasons), bards, pladins, fighters, monks, wizards, psions… anyone might be an Allergic.
Most Allergics are sullen, depressed, and always carry quite a few hankies.

Requirements:
Skills: Knowledge (Nature) 5 ranks, Heal 7 ranks, Profession (Apothecary) 7 ranks.
Feats: Skill Focus (Apothecary), Skill Focus (Heal).
Special: Must begin play with an allergy (be it to cats [and lions, and lamia], snakes, oak trees… whatever).

BAB Fort Ref Will Abilities
1. +0 +0 +0 +2 Allergy, Allergic Reaction I
2. +1 +1 +1 +3 Allergic Reaction II
3. +2 +1 +1 +3 Allergic Reaction II
4. +3 +1 +1 +4
5. +3 +2 +2 +4 Allergic Reaction III
6. +4 +2 +2 +5 Allergic Reaction III
7. +5 +2 +2 +5
8. +6 +3 +3 +6 Allergic Reaction IV
9. +6 +3 +3 +6 Allergic Reaction IV
10.+7 +3 +3 +7 Allergic Reaction V
A bit about saving throws: The Allergic’s immune system isn’t too good (hence the allergies), hence the low Fort (yes, I know it is because it is OVER active, but a deficiency nevertheless). You try jumping out of the way of incoming fireballs while sneezing like hell (hence the low Ref save). But for anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who continuasly sneezes, coughs, and gets rashes, lesser means of torture mean nothing. And when you know what’ll happen if you’ll run out of hankies, dragons aren’t too intimidating, hence the high Will save.

Skills: 6+Int mod per level.
Bluff (“No, really, I’m fine!”), Craft, Decipher Script (“I wonder what this prescription MEANS, damnit!”), Diplomacy (“I am so sorry I sneezed all over your dress! Can we still be friends?”), Heal, Intimidate (*shows rash, sneezes* “I carry the plague! RUN!!!!”), Knowledge (any), Profession, Sleight of Hand (you try using a hanky in the middle of a combat!).

Weapons and Armour Proficiency: The Allergic gains no new weapons or armour proficiencies.

Allergy: With any level he gains, his body seems to detoriate a bit more- he is allergic to one more thing.
As already mentioned, one can be allergic to practically anything- as long as the DM allows it- green dragons, Tanar’ri, drow, orcs, cats, turnip… whatever.
This is mainly a RP thing, and only comes into the Crunch with some abilities.

Allergic Reaction I:
Rash Once per day per level in this class, an Allergic can get a dreadful rash all over his body. While it incurs –2 to all diplomacy checks, it gives him a +2 to all Intimidate checks. Also, it grants him +1 Natural Armour.
This rash lasts for one round per class level+one round per Con MOD (be it positive or negative).

Allergic Reaction II As he advnaces in levels, his allergies worsen…
Whenever an Allergic gains Allergic Reaction II, he may choose one of the following:

Sneeze Type I: The Allergic incredibly hard, loud, and above all POWERFUL sneezes are the terror of all his enemies- once per day per Con MOD he may sneeze as a standard action. This is a Nasal Weapon (Breath-Weapon) that effects a cone (5 ft+5 ft per two Allergic lvls). Anyone caught in the cone must succed at a Fort save (10+Con Mod {or minus Con Mod, if the mod is negative}+levels in this PrC) or fall prone, as the tremendous exheleration drives them to the groud. In addition, they all take 1d4\two levels in this PrC from ballistic boogers (this is blunt damage).

Sneeze Type II: The Allergic incredibly hard, loud, and above all POWERFUL sneezes can prove mightily useful at times. Once per day per per class level, he may use Evasion as a timely Sneeze throws him out of harm’s way.
This happens automatically, as long as the Allergic has a nose.

Cough Type I: When exposed to some of the things he is Allergic to, the Allergic goes on a dreadful cough-spree, forcefully exhaling anything in his throat. While this happens a lot, once per day per two levels this happens when he eats or imbibes something poisonous. Ergo, once per day per two class levels he is completely unaffected by a poisonous thing he was trying to eat (or was forcefully fed), and makes quite a mess at the dinner table.
This ability does not confer the knowledge that the thing was poisonous, though the Allergic might have a hunch it ain’t a good idea to eat it…
This happens automatically, without the Allergic’s knowledge.

Allergic Reaction III:
By this stage, the Allergic has the pity of his fellows for his dreadful condition.
Whenever an Allergic gains Allergic Reaction III, he may choose one of the following:

Runny Nose: The Allergic has a perpetually runny nose. While this does force him to carry quite a few hankies and make breathing difficult at times, this also means that any gases that wish to get to his lungs get stopped in the way.
The Allergic loses any Scent ability he might have had, and (if a gnome) the +2 to Alchemy checks, but is forever immune to inhaled threats- from inhaled gases to nausating smells (ghoul touch, for instance).

Discren Location: Choose one thing you are allergic to. Whenever you are within 100 ft of it, you know it by your allergic reactions (notice the lack of capitilazation, used to indicate that one needn’t neceserelly use an Allergic Reaction). Obviously, there has to be some way for air (or water, if underwater) to get from it’s location to yours.

*sneeze, cough, cough, sneeze*: The Allergic often sneezes and coughs while talking (actually, he often sneezes and coughs while eating, sleeping, fighting, and, in fact, living. See, he’s allergic). In the Adventuring world, intrigue infested as it is, this can (and often is) be seen as subtle innuendos, hinting at vastly different things.
The Allergic gains +2 Circumstance to all Diplomacy checks (hinting about all these clever things, some of which he shouldn’t have known about at all!), Intimidate (“… and then I shall cut off your *cough cough*”), and Bluff (“I must talk to the king about *sneeze cough sneeze*!”).

Allergic Reaction IV:
By now, the list of the things that the Allergic isn’t allergic to has grown so short that a halfling would look down on it.
And on the Allergic, while he’s having a coughing fit.
Whenever an Allergic gains Allergic Reaction IV, he may choose one of the following:

Improved Discern Location: Choose one thing you are allergic to. Whenever you are within 300 ft of it, you know it by your allergic reactions (notice the lack of capitilazation, used to indicate that one needn’t neceserelly use an Allergic Reaction).
If you also have Discern Location, you can also tell the distance (to the nearest 5 ft) from the thing, though not the direction. Obviously, there has to be some way for air (or water, if underwater) to get from it’s location to yours.

Cough Type II: When exposed some of the things he is allergic to, the Allergic gets a fit of body-wreaking coughs. While he is (barely) able to act more-or-less normally, this makes his moves erratic and unpredictable, thus giving him a +3 Dodge bonus to AC, and +2 to all Reflex saving throws.
This lasts for one round per point of Con mod, and can be used once per day per 2 levels.

Sneeze Type III: The Allergic incredibly hard, loud, and above all POWERFUL sneezes grow even worse. Thrice per day an Allergic may erupt, causing a Sneeze of DOOM (tm). This causes 5d4 points of sonic damage to anyone (but the Allergic) within 20 ft radius (no save), 4d4 points of damage from ballistic boogers (Ref save DC 10+Con Mod {or minus Con Mod, if the mod is negative}+levels in this PrC for half) and, if they failed their save, they are treated as if hit by a bag of Tanglefoot.

Allergic Reaction V:
The epitomy of allergies, the Allergic is now truly a fearsome medical phenomen.
He now gains the fearsome…

Coughing Spree: The Allergic at times go on a real, dreadful Coughing Spree. The coughs, which can be heard a hundred feet away, have insane intesnity, unknown in lesser (or healthier) beings. People who have witnessed a Coughing Spree and survived to tell the tale speak of the poor lad, coughing so hard he is practically rocketed around, whose coughs are so powerful they drive opponents to the ground and pummel them with guests of wind…
The Allergic may go on a Coughing Spree once per day only. The spree lasts 10 rounds+ 1 round per point of Con mod, and while in it, the Allergic can do nothing but activate\use other Allergic Reactions once per two rounds, or Cough (see below).
While in a Coughing Spree, the Allergic moves twice his normal speed in various directions. This movement is flying (manouverabilty- perfect\special), and is caused by his mighty coughs. He is never lifted more than twice his height over the ground, and can control his movement. He can’t move more than 10 ft in one direction at once (i.e, he could move 10 ft north, 10 ft west, 10 ft north, 10 ft east, 10 ft south and 10 ft north again, if he were a human). This movement does not incur AoOs. Also, while moving, if not using any other Allergic Reaction that turn (Allergic Reactions can be used at any point through the his turn, even while he is moving), he may Cough at an opponent, dealing 4d4 points of damage and tripping him unless he succeds at a Ref save (Ref save DC 10+Con Mod {or minus Con Mod, if the mod is negative}+levels in this PrC for half).
Just as with Allergic Reactions, he may Cough at any time through his turn.

Is this balanced?

Savras :)

I'ts not uberly broken... Though I'd make it so the Allergic can only take move actions while he's Sneezing and/or Coughing, if not for balancing issues, for being a bit mroe reallistic. I just have trouble figuring how (if not out of pure luck) an Allergic could do anything else while sneezing like hell.
It'd not be the first time I have to actually hold an allergic guy in order to avoid him falling to the ground due to coughing and all that (OK, maybe I'm exxaggerating a bit, but I'm sure if he was asked to do something else while coughing, he'd not be able to, even though we're talking severe allergy here).

[/B]P.S.: This is partly based on me (the perpetually runny nose), and to all my friends (especially Erez, who claimed I am "falling apart")- ph3ar my 1337 allergies! [/B]

Using 1337 again? And you claim it to be MY normal way of posting? Yeah, sure...

P.S: Why only an Allergic Reaction I and V and two of the other? And you have two blank levels... Hmmm... If you include a -X to Attack Rolls, Ref Saves and Dex-Based Skills Skill checks, you could grant another Allergic Reaction I at level 2, move the Reactions II and III down a level, the reactions IV up a level and then grant another Reaction V at 9th level... But that's just MHO.

Oh, the fun I could have if any player of mine was to play an Allergic... A dwarf allergic to stone! A Wild or Wood elf allergic to trees! A gnome allergic to burrowing mammals! Woo-hoo!

Nah, 'tis is powerful enough as is, though I might add some powers... see below.

Good

Errrmmm... sure it was done on purpose!
OF course!
*points at the sky* look, a dead elephant! *runs for the edit button*

Add "as long as the Allergic is within X feet of something he's allergic to" to the "Cough Type II" ability... I know it's implied, but still...
See, I thought about it, but it would make the class less playable, and so I must leave it as is.

I... Can't... keep on... reading. Must... stop... the laughter... ACK! *dies*
Finally!
I personally laughed so hard I had to stop writing at times,
and could barely contain my mirth.

Seems like you guys (and girls, Eltheynn, and girls :P) just don't get it...

I'd say he can "barely" control his momvements (Dexterity check or Ref Save to control 'em), but whatever floats your boat.
Again, I had to sacrifice accuracy for playability.

I'ts not uberly broken... Though I'd make it so the Allergic can only take move actions while he's Sneezing and/or Coughing, if not for balancing issues, for being a bit mroe reallistic. It is simply that it must be fun to play, you see?

It'd not be the first time I have to actually hold an allergic guy in order to avoid him falling to the ground due to coughing and all that (OK, maybe I'm exxaggerating a bit, but I'm sure if he was asked to do something else while coughing, he'd not be able to, even though we're talking severe allergy here).
Yep.
Sorry, I have to take the unrealistic approach, or Allergics would die like flies...

Using 1337 again? And you claim it to be MY normal way of posting? Yeah, sure...:P

See, I didn't have any ideas for other really weak Allergic Reactions (I) or really powerful ones (V).

Suggestions are welcomed.

And girls? I could care less if you have an issue with me being male, but please, do not spread misinformation... :P

And yeah, I agree if this was more reallistic it'd become nigh-unplayable.

Hmmmm... Allergy may affect the eyes, so you could have an ability that, at the expense of minuses to Spot and Search checks, and maybe to-hit rolls, grants pluses to saves against effects of gaze attacks, or even immunity to those.
Or maybe coughing/sneezing grants the ability to deviate projectiles from their trajectory, as if using a "Gust of Wind" spell... I'll think of some (just let me get my "allergic-to-cat-hair" friend close to my "allergic-to-allergic-guys" cat :P), and post them.

This PrC is the creation of a comedy master-mind

and what would the next one be ?
the loonatic (shaool),
the ninja-turtle (rafi),
or the super-uber-duper-munchkin (I have no idea who that might be...)

There's already a couple munchkin PrC's (and IIRC, a DM PrC as well) out there, if you want to do a search for them and have a good laugh... Though AFAIK, none by Savras.
Oh, and don't give him ideas... Last time I did, the result was the aforementioned mystic Tea-Urge, and it still hurts :P ;)

(Eltheynn- Shavit and Kaelan are players of mine)

I am happy you liked it. :)

I like the gust of wind idea, my self... I might add it as Allergic Reaction II...

I knew... At least, as far as Kaelan is concerned (I think I recall a thread of yours about a ranger, that IIRC was played by Kaelan. Either that, or I'm hallucinating again, but I'm sure they have posted in other threads where you acknowledged them as your players).
Glad you like the gust of wind thingy, BTW... I've been thinking of having the Allergic be able to Create Water due to the massive amount of tears he produces to protect his eyes from the effects of allergies, but that'd be weird...

P.S: Got that PM... Addedz0rz! ;)

G-d damn those damn Inboxes!

And yes, the Ranger was indeed Kaelan.

The "Create Water" is a bit bizarre, but with a bit of though I can turn it into truely insane, and it will be compatible with the rest of the PrC...

I think about...
Tears: When exposed to certain things he is allergic to, the Allergic sheds tears.
While this is great for dates ("He is so sensitive!"), it can be dangerous at times- when extremly severe, the tears nearly drown the poor Allergic.
And so, he learned to breathe water for short amounts of time, untill it passes.
And so, whenever he needs to, he can Breath Water, up to a maximum of class levels*Con Mod in rounds, which needn't necceserily be consecutive, though they can.
This happens automatically.

Note: The Allergic must chose one thing he is Allergic to that will cause him to cry intesly.
The DM must use this wisely, but mainly it's an RP thing.

Me likes *stamps seal of approval over Savras's post*. And boy do I have a good memory for facts irrelevant to me...

Seems a little weak. Most (if not all) of the damaging abilities don't scale, and they don't even do much damage at the earliest possbile levels that one could acquire them. :( Also, if they can only do it once per day, why not make it Improved Evasion? It'll be hard enough to be certain when is the best time to use it, and just depressing if the save is failed.
Otherwise, totally cool. Artificer Allergist Extreme Explorer to make my players's brains do backflips!

This is a gem of a PrC. I love it.

It's a vindication for all of us who are paralyzed by allergies 6 months out of the year! (I wish I could derive some evil-fighting powers from it myself... These allergies ought to be good for something.)
