The more often I read in the rulebooks, the less I understand about the D&D3E rules...
I play a level 8 Paladin with a Celestial Heavy Warhorse as a mount (which I can by the rules of DotF). Since it is Celestial, its type changes to Magical Beast. What does the line "but otherwise the creature type is unchanged" (MM1, p.211) mean? Does it refer to any other creature than Animal/Beast?
Does my warhorse retain its d8 HD or do they change to d10? Does it have a BAB as a fighter (like every Magical Beast) or ist it as a cleric (like an Animal)?
Can I have a druid cast "Awaken" on it to raise its HD another 2?
As you see, I really am a little confused.
Thanks for your help!

If a magical creatures type is not changed by being a paladins mount it would be a magical creature. To be an animal would be to change its type. So yes, it would retain d10 and good BAB, but no you cant awaken it. Its already a magical beast.

The celestial warhorse is not expected in the base rules, so they didnt say: animals stay animals and magical beasts stay magical beasts

Hope that helps
