Its worked in my local campaign pretty well and makes the fighter little more 3 dimensional and heroic for the players. So far its worked up to 18nth level, but Im curious as to some feedback. And yes, Im aware that none of the additions I made to a fighter came with any drawbacks. Fighter Redraft. Good saves- Fort BaB- 1 per level Skill points per level- 4, x4 for starting as normal. In class skills-Climb, Craft, Gather information, Intimidate, Jump, Know- Arc/Egineering, Know- Tactics, Know- Nobility and Royalty, Profession, Ride, Sense Motive and Swim. In addition at character creation each fighter may choose two of the following skills as in class skills. This decision cannot be changed once made. Appraise, Diplomacy, Handle Animal, Know- any one, Listen, Move Silently, Spot, and Survival. Weapon and Armor proficiencies- A Fighter is proficient with all simple and martial Weapons, All Light Medium and Heavy Armors, and all shields except tower shields. Special- at first level, and at every even level thereafter a fighter gains a bonus feat from the fighter bonus feat list- i.e. any feat containing fighter as a type. At fifth level the fighter receives on of the following bonus feats- Great Fortitude, Lightning Reflexes, Iron Will, or Endurance. At 10nth level the fighter may reroll any save made to not be stunned or affected by a fear effect, this does not stack with any other rerolls. At 15nth level the fighter may add two additional skills from the optional list above to his skill list, may reroll any save against a compulsion effect, and may gain a bonus feat as listed on the fifth level bonus feat list. Special Feat- Fighter Weapon Focus- Prerequisite- Fighter level 3 A fighter who takes weapon focus may choose to take weapon focus with a specific type of weapon damage instead of a specific weapon *such as slashing* and reciece a +1 to attack rolls with it. At any point a fighter may pick up a weapon of this type and devote a full day to training with this new weapon. If another character is proficient with the weapon this time is lessened to four hours at wich point the fighter gains proficiency with the weapon but does not receive a +1 to attack rolls with it do to this feat. After one week of using this weapon atleast four hours a day or in atleast two incounters each day the Fighter gains the benefit of a +1 attack roll with said weapon. This Feat counts as Weapon focus for any weapon that the fighter is proficient with of the chosen damage type for all prerequisites. Special- May replace Weapon Focus with a specific weapon of the damage type selected instead of being chosen as a new feat. Special Feat- Great Forge Prerequisite- Will save +4, BAB +5, Craft Weaponsmithing or Craft Armorsmithing 8 ranks, fighter level 5th. A fighter with this feat is counted as having the Craft Magical Arms and Armor feat with a caster level equal to his Fighter Class level. He cannot take 10 on any skill checks required to make any magic item using this feat. The fighter must have atleast 8 ranks in the appropriate crafting skill for the item *ie weaponsmithing for weapons etc*. Special- Not elligable for a fighter bonus feat. |
| LordPendragon08-08-06, 08:17 AM | A couple things... Fighter Weapon Focus is made obsolete by Melee Weapon Mastery from PHBII. I like Great Forge, but the Fighter will still need a caster to cast the appropriate spells during the crafting process. Why not be proficient with tower shields?? The Fighter is currently one of the very few that actually are. 15th level is pretty late to be gaining new class skills. Either these should be gained earlier, or they need to retroactively convert previously invested points into full ranks (instead of half ranks). |
