What is size modifier and how is it determined?

about cleric's spells:
Why in the domain of healing the'yre cure spells for most of the levels if I can use them spontanously ?
I understand the special ability of the domain is pretty good, but still...

And about the prepartion of spells:
I didn't understand something, accordin the PHB 3.0 I have (or at least what I got from it) the cleric can prepare a certain number of spells of his spellcaster level. he can change the spells he knows everyday, when he meditates or whatever when he "recovers" his magic powers?
It was a bit fade, so if someone can clearify that for me it would be great.

thx a lot :)

Because you can't convert domain spells to healing, as you can with your regularly prepared spells. So the Healing domain gets you the ability to use your domain slots for healing spells, effectively.
A cleric prepares all new spells each morning/evening, the time of day varying according to his/her deity. You can potentially pray for any cleric spells that have been printed, provided your DM allows the use of the book in question.

So to make sure: you can choose a whole different set of spells everyday?(does this include domain spells?)

another question: how many times can you do each spell everday or between your "renewals"?

and what about the size modifier question? :)

What is size modifier and how is it determined? It's a modifier to attacks and AC based on your size. For the PHB races, it's all 0, unless you're a gnome or halfling, at which point it's +1.

There's a separate size modifier that applies to other things, like Hide or grapple checks, that is 0 for all Medium creatures and 4 for all Small ones (+4 for Hide, -4 for grapples and similar).

This is all covered on a table in the combat chapter called "Big and little creatures in combat".about cleric's spells:
Why in the domain of healing the'yre cure spells for most of the levels if I can use them spontanously ?
I understand the special ability of the domain is pretty good, but still...Mostly for the domain ability. Also because you cannot cast a spontaneous Cure spell from your domain slot. If you want to use your domain slots for healing, you need the healing domain.
It was a bit fade, so if someone can clearify that for me it would be great.See the class table? That's the number of spells he can prepare of each level.

If his Wisdom is high (it should be), he can prepare more of them. See the table on Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells at the front of the PHB.So to make sure: you can choose a whole different set of spells everyday?(does this include domain spells?)Yep. Clerics have a HUGE list of things to choose from and can be totally different from one day to the next.another question: how many times can you do each spell everday or between your "renewals"?Once for each spell you prepare. Do note that you can prepare the same spell more than once.

Carefully reread the Magic chapter again, particularly anything on divine spells. It's all answered in the Magic chapter.

So I can only be fully prepaired to one batlle a day?(I mean with all spells etc.)

another question that I thought about concering the healing domain: it allows you to choose spells of healing from +1 spellcaster level...
so I can spontanously use a 2nd level cure spell instead of a 1st level spell?

or in order to use the ability of +1 heal spell level I have to prepare this higher level spell everyday?

Dude, Read. The. Rules.

This will answer all of your questions.

A first-level cleric with 15 Wisdom has two first-level spells plus his domain spell. He can therefore cast up to three first-level spells per day. Each can only be used once per day, but you can prepare multiple copies of the same spell if you want (I could prepare Bless, Bless, and my domain spell, for instance, and I could cast Bless twice that day and my domain spell once. Or, alternatively, I could spontaneously cast Cure Light Wounds by giving up one of my Bless spells as if I'd cast it.)

Also, +1 caster level is NOT +1 spell level.

Cure Light Wounds restores 1d8+your caster level (max +5) hit points.

A first-level cleric restores 1d8+1 HP with Cure Light Wounds. A first-level cleric with the healing domain restores 1d8+2 with the same spell (it's exactly as if he was one level higher, except that he still has all the spells of a first-level cleric). If he uses it on an undead, he also has a better chance of breaking through spell resistance.

Your questions indicate that you haven't read the Magic chapter of the PHB, or even the Cleric section of the Classes chapter of the same book. Until you read those, you probably aren't going to be playing a cleric very well. In fact, unless you read those, you can't play a cleric.

Ahh, that's +1 to the result of the dice?

I got that totally wrong. And you STILL got it wrong.

Read any spell with the (Healing) subschool -- Cure Light Wounds, Heal, I don't care.

Notice how all of them have an effect that says "per caster level"?

Normally, that's your cleric level. For healing domain clerics (who cast healing spells at +1 caster level), that's their cleric level +1.

You get this regardless of whether or not it's on the healing domain, or if you cast it as a domain spell. Any healing spell you cast, you are treated as one level higher when you use it.
