Elentor 05-24-05, 08:12 PM	Heya there Well, I read in the Complete Arcane that the Warlock takes benefinits from the +X to Spellcasting level to gain level at his invocations and that his Eldritch Blast sums up with the Spellcasting level The question is: The prestige classes always make very clear that the "+ to spellcasting level", if there are more than one "arcane spellcasting level", must affect only one of them. I remember reading that Warlock doesn't cast arcane spells, so it theoretically escapes this rule. Of course exploiting this is cheesy, it's obvious that you shouldn't be able to get both arcane spells and invocations per level... My question is, does this also applies to the Eldritch Blast? I mean, must I get a new "invocation" for the Eldritch Blast to gain damage? Or will it keep rising damage even if I "choose" the sorcerer/wizard to gain the bonus to arcane spellcasting? That is just it, thanks
Lawrence 05-24-05, 08:21 PM	for reference, a Warlock has an actual caster level, and despite how the class reads, essentially, all the magical powers of the warlock (eldritch blast and invocations) run off caster level, not class level (invocations do at the least, and since they always talk of the blast doing the same, it's a safe rule of reference). So, Warlocks ARE and will ALWAYS be a choice for choosing a spellcasting class to boost. You can't loophole the system and get free firepower while boosting another class. to simplify, the answer to your question is: No, Eldritch blast and invocations use the Warlocks caster level.
