How much do saves, hit die, base attack, skills, and weapon/armor proficiency really matter? The Balancer Hit Die: d12 Level BAB Fort Reflex Will 1st +1 +2 +2 +2 2nd +2 +3 +3 +3 3rd +3 +4 +4 +4 4th +4 +4 +4 +4 5th +5 +5 +5 +5 6th +6/+1 +5 +5 +5 7th +7/+2 +6 +6 +6 8th +8/+3 +6 +6 +6 9th +9/+4 +7 +7 +7 10th +10/+5 +7 +7 +7 11th +11/+6/+1 +8 +8 +8 12th +12/+7/+2 +8 +8 +8 13th +13/+8/+3 +9 +9 +9 14th +14/+9/+4 +9 +9 +9 15th +15/+10/+5 +10 +10 +10 16th +16/+11/+6/+1 +10 +10 +10 17th +17/+12/+7/+2 +11 +11 +11 18th +18/+13/+8/+3 +11 +11 +11 19th +19/+14/+9/+4 +12 +12 +12 20th +20/+15/+10/+5 +12 +12 +12 Class Skills (6+int modifier, x4 at 1st level): All skills are class skills to the Balancer. When balancing a class you also need to not just balance it as a straight 20th level build but on how people are going to multiclass with. Most people on the fourm ask what does a character of this class do for a party. In this case this class brings less that a fighter. Its higher HD and saves means it will last longer on the battlefield but it will ulitmately have less offensive power that a fighter. Its that just being alive isn't enough. in fact More "powerfull" defensive classes have been made and shot down because they don't help the party as a whole overcome challenges. Allthough the open skills allow this class to represent nearly any fighting type of chracter (noble diplomatic knight, falconeer on horse back, Magic hunter, ambusher etc..) its not enough (in most cases) to help the party overcome challenges. |
